Go for the Yamaha Gladiator if you want to save money , just be ready to face the horrible pickup in the 1st and 2nd gear . This is not a city bike if you weight 80kg + ; I am nearing 85 kilos and plan to get heavier . No idea what I am gonna do with my bike..maybe mod her once I get my 1st job.

In tight situations, go for any Honda (or Hero Honda) 150/+ CC category. You wont be disappointed. All are good commuters. You can try Suzuki GS150 also. Don't forget to take a test ride for any bike you buy. Goodluck!

          Uni

Uni as a overall package scores over all 150cc bikes. Xtreme/Hunk gives that xtra fun while rushing through traffic and these bikes can handle variety of road conditions compared to Uni. I have personal experience of Uni on bad roads, the ride really becomes really stiff. I heard HMSI is marketing only Shine for rural market through select 'multi-brand' outlets. Clearly shows Uni is better on 'good quality' roads.

^^ that depends on the settings...soft for bad roads, medium for city rides, hard for twisties, these work best for me and honda does provide you with a handle-bar tool to adjust settings yourself.

In comparison to other bikes (those with with dual shock setup at the rear) the Unicorn is bouncy for the pillion on bad roads. Go ahead and test it for yourselves. And, I am among those who say it is tough to point something odd with a Unicorn.

i was in same situation some time before,,,,,
each bike has its flaw,,, nothing perfect
but the question is whether u can cope with that particular flaw which that bike has
                    so decide for urself
Hope is a good thing ,

                      Do one easy thing.
Just imagine u have bought the bike. Any one.

Now imagine you are living with the bike for more than 1-2 years. Are you feeling frustrated by the same performance, same looks, same bike, etc. Will you be outgrowing this bike soon. Then this is not the bike for you.

When you have a good feeling towards a bike, buy it!
                      Cheers!

The unis mono shock WORKS be it bad roads or good.I never observed any stiff backs or the like on whatever roads. The xtremes and hunk cannot match the comfort of the unicorn period. But the xtreme is fun to ride.

First Good News - "Budget Increased"

After a lot of consideration and thoughts and calculations and blah blah...have somehow comeout of the budget crunch and extended to 70k.. So that leaves out 125cc bikes...

Though I must say, had I been planning to take 125cc bikes, I would have gone for gladiator most probably... tried XCD and as I had felt earlier, it was very narrow...was nt interested in Pulsar or Disc..so they were anyways eliminated...

So, now in 150cc I am left with:

                            - Hero Honda Hunk / Xtreme
                            - Suzuki GSR150
                            - Honda Unicorn (majority votes here @ xBHP)
                            - TVS Apache

And, well, I went for a few Test Drives:

                            1. Hero Honda Hunk - Took a test drive yesterday with a pillion weighing around 70kg. I must say, as some of my friends had felt, I was not impressed. I felt a lot of vibes and the ride was not so smooth. Also, the posture was not so comformtable for me. I also felt carrying a lot of weight with me having the pillion rider behind... Braking was good though.
Had also planned to test drive Xtreme but it being around 67k on road made me loose interest..

Also, on asking about the mileage the showroom person said 53km/l ekdum confirmed...

Also checked out the limited edition of Hunk which costs 1.5k extra and it was nothing great, just some extra stickers, dual color seat and colored cast rim... And even after that the overall loook made the original Hunk look better... (personal opinion)

                            2. TVS Apache - Well have read so many posts and positives about TVS Apache here, I was looking forward to Test Driving it... The showroom person was very kind to let me make a lot of cuts, take for a little longer ride and that too when I had actually reached quite late.

One word - the drive experience was awesome, I did not feel the weight of the pillion. The pickup was amazing and it so easily let me cut traffic take turns that I really loved it. Good brakes too... But there are always some butsss..

The ride was cool, powerful but not so comfortable for me, as I had mentioned in my 1st post, my height is 6', so even that small ride made my feet feel strained. Since I have a height I also weigh around 85kgs and with the pillion weighing around 65kg, going over a bumper, it touched the vehicle's base... With the number of bumpers in Bangalore, my ride will not last long...

                            3. Suzuki GSR150 - After reading so much praise and goody-goody things about this one... I had a lot of hopes with this one..and it lived through.

The pics had not impressed me much, I mean the styling and design seemed very simple and nothing that great, but first look at the machine and I realized how wrong I was. The gigantic tank, the lines, taillight... overall everything was very appealling... Watching me eyeing the bike so keenly, the showroom guy came to me and said would you like to test drive!? I said, yes for sure....

Firstly, I was allowed to drive it alone, so could take it for a good spin.
The drive was very smooth, I tried most of the things people had been talking about here and found I could not agree to them more... Very low vibration, engine noise is minimalistic, picked up in 6th gear without any strain, looks heavy but ride's light, very easy to turn.... Found the hold-clutch-and-start thingy irritating and also, the gears were too many to get used to

The brakes were not that great...has anyone found what can be done about it..?

But otherwise, I could not find out any other flaws... The seating posture was quite comfortable for me the seating height suited me...

So....abhi toh I am inclined towards GSR...i did have a resale clause, but I guess will have to make an exception...

Have not yet test driven Unicorn...and coz its got majority of votes here i don knw...! Also, Unicorn as someone said mast nahi dikhti...

So the gotta decide between Unicorn & GSR150...vote all....!! You can express on the pros n conssss

Suzuki GSR is a good bike too with a very good mileage for 150 cc bike, but looking at ur resale requirement, dont want to suggest tht..
i heard glady is good.. but its jus i heard.. dont know much abt it.
@alkem - you been riding GSR if I am not wrong, any regrets? Is the braking not sufficient or its just something that one feels but is adequate? Anything else that I should keep in mind before I opt for it??
