    Suggest me a bike please

    Hi guys i am ravi shankar and i joined this forum specifically to become a member of you cyclists.

    Requirements : I got posted in state bank of hyberabad and will be alloted to any place in city. I plan to exercise for health and fitness and plan to go to work by bike and dunno whether i will be be posted in city or town or remote rural village so I need a bike that will be suitable to ride on all kinds of road. Upon doing research i thought MTB was the way to go but then i found out hybrid bike will suit me better.

    This is also my first time riding bicycle after a very long time(12 years i think) and i would like a proper cycle that fits my needs and needs less maintenance if possible.

    Some say gear cycle is better others say more calories are burned with gearless cycle. Also what about suspension i am tall guy 6 ft and a bit hefty (85 kg).Please suggest me a comfortable bike. I think Large size frame will suit be best.

    Budget : 15k-30k

    Also am confused if i should get MTB or hybrid considering the roads of our country :P

    Its a shame decathelon isnt availabe in chennai and justbuy/hercules wont let me test drive ;( so i really need guidance from experienced people. None of my friends are well versed in recommending me a good bike.

      The problem with buying a cycle and recommending someone to buy a cycle is, others don't know what is available in your city.

      You would first need to visit as many shops in Chennai, see what bikes are available or could be made available. Then people here can suggest. Or else if you are willing to get a bike shipped from another city.

      With 30k you would get a decent hybrid, though make sure you get the correct size.

      Also, do have a look at the Used Cycle market on a facebook page called Cyclop.
      Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

        thanks monk could u recommend me some hybrid bikes the hercules act 110 was recommended by the shopkeeper as it was best for its price range decent brakes low maintenance and good performance overall.

        How about riverside men 3 or montra blue? See the thing is I am new to this and dont have option to test drive so i really need experienced experts help such as you so i can choose my hybrid

          If you have a budget of 30k why are you even looking at the ACT110! Also, it would probably be too small for you, since it is available in one size only.

          Again i do not know what is available in Chennai. Here are a few models you can search for in the city -

          Mongoose Artery Sport, Schwinn Sporterra, Merida Crossway, Fuji Absolute. You will have to see what is available in your city.

          The Btwin bike is good from what i have heard and even Montra has reasonably decent reviews.

          Probiker stores, Balaji Cycles and Track and Trail are three stores that i found on the internet. You might want to visit them and figure out what they have.
          Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

            Though it is an old thread, could not keep self from commenting .

            I own an MTB from Scott. I have ridden my friends Schwinn spoterra extensively, the bike is a hybrid and comes around 24k to 26 k but that was around 2014.
