I have finished my first BRM 200 last Saturday conducted by Madras Randonnuers on my SCHWINN Frontier Sport (MTB, with suspension).
Though the stretch is flat, head and cross winds are grueling which made the ride a tough one. Heat is just above moderate but bearable.
I had plenty of water through out, but comprised with lunch owing to the time shortage and went ahead.
Post 150 km I really struggled to push the bike and after the final check point at 173km legs started to pain and felt like I m completely exhausted. Having electoral and Glucovita bolts through out I pushed my self till the end and finished the ride just 15-20 mins before the time.
Before the ride, I practiced a 50 km ride daily for two weeks and attempted a 100km in between. After the first week , I have increased my saddle height a little and I felt my pedaling was improved. Things are fine in those sessions and I neither experienced any pain or cramps in legs. Every morning I was fresh to go for a 50.
I felt things would be same after the 200Km ride too.
Today is second day after ride and I still have some pain in thighs,a tingling sensation in my hands. The thighs pain is bearable and I m feeling like it will go away soon.
But I'm experiencing tingling in hands for first time. Though I m able to perform my chores , I feel like a little current is passing in both of my hands.
Is this common after such long rides ? If not what should I do to reduce them now and prevent in future ?
Hoping I have presented all possible details, I would like to receive comments on bike too. Is it advisable to do further brevets on MTB ?
Thank you all in advance.
