Merida and KHS are considered VFM in the indian cycling world. Don't know if that is available in Chennai though.

All the bikes you have listed will serve your purpose easily. Though i wouldn't pay extra for disc brakes on a hybrid.

What are the quoted prices for all the bikes?

I haven't ridden a Ghost yet. But the Lappiere bikes i rode were at par with what you get from Trek, Canon and at a similar price point as well. Though the good thing is that since these brands are not so well known in India yet, you can haggle for discounts

@ TS If the prices of all the bikes were the same (which it won't be), then the Escape 1 would be the weapon of choice. Also, do make sure you get the correct frame size, as very often shopkeepers try to sell what they have and not what you require.

Frame should be alloy, right (lightweight but sturdy) or aluminium?
