  • Need advice regarding buying a new bicycle

    Hi all.
I need your help about buying a good value for money bicycle. My budget is 5K. I need the cycle for exercise and for increasing the strength of my right knee muscle (met with a severe accident). I have narrowed down on Btwin my bike(non gear- INR 4.5K).

    Thanks,

    Ritabroto

    Query Approved

I don't know much. But i have heard good things about the Btwin bikes in that price range, being VFM.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I'm a proud owner of Btwin my bike past 1.5 years. I have no idea how it can help to strengthen your knee but I can share my views on bike.

It is a complete value for money bike. You need not worry about quality or anything.
It is a bike on which if you are in plains, you simply cannot stop pedaling. It goes very smoothly.
Also btwin boasts about power and feather brakes. Steel frame helps in vibration absorption and also lasts very long.

I rode it even in recent Chennai floods and there is not even sign of rust on frame.
And above all no puncture till date in around 1300-1500 Kms of riding. You can ride on almost any surface.

Only problem for me is saddle, that too if I ride more than 50km on it.I got a wider and cushioned saddle.
Now a days I see narrow saddle being present, which might be more comfortable.

If your usage is going to be around 30 kms perday, this is the best.

I have heard/read few cases in which rear cog needs to be changed after excessive use.

Actually doc has advised to ride since my knee muscle is weak post operation(my right leg is slightly bent & swelled a little). He also said that it will strengthen my knee muscle.

Re: Need advice regarding buying a new bicycle

I have a bad right knee. I had started cycling using my ordinary cycle. initially I was wearing knee cap. gradually that was taken out. since April 2015 I am doing serious cycling but comfortably so that I don't strain my knees. after cycling my knee condition has improved a lot. even though I cannot pedal super fast as it will strain my knee. I can do reasonable long distances. you can see my thread in this forum. your choice of cycle is very good and wishing you happy cycling.
