For some people gadgets, gizmos and new stuff helps with motivation. For me nothing but mental resolve works. See what works for you

A helmet and gloves are something which you should start off with i believe. Decathlon is good VFM. The Cycle market at jhandelwalan can also get you some stuff with not so exorbitant prices. Mehta cycles is run by an xBhpian there.

so to update the thread . have been able to manage bout 60 km per week about 3-4 days in a week of cycling given my weird shift timigs. enjoying it to the core.

got a electronic bell and my ass is now fully accustomed to the metal bench seat without any gel cover or cycling shorts.

have a lot of mud and off road sections and lakes in and around my area and monsoon its been a bliss to cycle.
able to ride 20+ km without taking breaks now just speed variations. so i am now all prepared to get a proper road bike in coming months. until then i will keep rubbing the chain of the MTB

will post pics shortly. some more gadgetry will be added to it which is on the way.

Update :
Been few months i updated. Have been cycling regularly and havr lost over 10kg and happily doing about 35 odd km cycling everyday on the same mtb and now its time to upgrade.

Got few buddies also riding along on a schwinn elite and montra 1.1 and tried both cycles and they are much much better than hero mtb.

My heart says to go for a roadie but mind says forna hybrid. Am on a lookout for a decent cycle in range of 40k and plan to keep it for next few years before i exchange or upgrade.

Query :
Is LA sovereign urbano still available. Heard it was for about 30k and in my budget.

Any reviews on montra celtic 2.2 which is also in my budget.

I will continue to cycle only for pure fun of it and will do about 40km or so everyday.

Please help a noob here am confused with money in hand and unable to decide.

40k is a very decent budget for a used entry level roadie or even a hybrid. Check out Cyclop on Facebook for some deals which suit you. Since you are upgrading, might as well make a proper upgrade of it

And don't worry about the 'used' tag attached to cycles. Most bikes will be as good as new even after 2-3 years of usage! Speaking from personal experience. All three of my cycles i bought used and am very happy with all

And congrats that's a good amount of weight you have shed. I just hope you are only cycling and not getting too stingy on the food intake bit. Don't starve yourself to lose weight, just the exercise is good enough

Thank you sirjee. I havr shifted to more nutritious food and avoiding oily fried stuff and rest cycling is doing its job.

I am checking cyclops everyday for used deals however hyd seems to be a bit dry in terms of cyclists.

Will keep a check however if the go for the new route which one is best vfm from the three below. All seem to be in 30-40k range

If you are looking to buy a bike locally, then your options do get narrowed down substantially. Between the three, i would probably go for the Btwin. Though do make sure you test ride all before buying. And MOST importantly, buy the correct size bike for your body proportions.

Open mind if i go used and if i get a decent deal will pick up one. I am 5.11 a L size frame on montra and schwinn suits fine.

Going decathalon tomorrow to test the red tribane 3. Will keep you posted

tribune 3 is discontinued and tribune 500 is 36k now with shimano Claris I believe.

I have shortlisted the following.

Firefox mistral 33k
Montra celtic 2.2 40k
Raleigh revenio 1 38k
Polygon stratos S2. 47k.

all these are with shimano sora groupset
cheapest bein g firefox mistral at 33k
and most expensive being stratos s2 at 47k.

components seems to be all same. firefox being a bit heavier due to cost cutting no parts like handle bar and seat post due to which it is also cheaper.
Please suggest what could a good buy. I could not find any decent deal yet for Hyderabad. most deals are going for delhi , Mumbai or Chennai.

I have heard good things about the Polygon bikes being good VFM. I would go for this. Even the Raleigh looks good, though i haven't come across the any roadbikes from them. The MTBs i rode from Raleigh were heavier than the competition. So check that out.

Also in Hyderabad i have heard good things about The Bike Affair on the interweb. Do check out that store before finalising.

after checking multiple road bikes from Giant, Merida , specialized and few others.
settled for Polygon again.

however instead of my origin al budget of 40k for the stratos I picked up the Helios C3. crossed the half a lakh mark

have done about 100 km in last 3 days and its a hoot to ride. lovely bike. extremely light weight yet a stable rigid frame.
front carbon forks and lovely endurance posture.
