  • Buying dilemma - Help requested from fellow riders.

    Hello XBhpians,

I'm planning to buy a new cycle and I'm confused. Please help me with your valuable inputs/guidance.

    Current ride
BTwin My Bike 7S. Got it 2nd hand. Owning this bike for the past 4 years. Bike is ultra reliable with zero breakdowns.

    Riding pattern
    * I'm a novice rider who rides on and off.
    * I ride usually between 5 to 10 Kms on weekdays(3 to 4 days) and between 20 to 30 Kms on weekends(1 day).
    * I ride purely on good roads and slightly bad roads so no MTBs.

    Expectations
*I would like to get more serious about cycling.
*I would like to increase the distance and average speed of my riding.
*Though I have set such expectations, going by past life experiences, the logical part of my brain says not to invest more as I may end up not riding more and justifying the upgrade.
    *So budget is 20K.

    Confusions
    - Whether to spend little more (say 25k) and look for an used cycle that's a better upgrade?
    - I've zeroed in on Btwin Triban 100. Though it's not a proper road bike, I feel it's a good upgrade. Is it worth going for this?
    - Whether to stay away from road bike now and go for a better Hybrid with the budget I have? May be once I'm more serious, I can look for proper roadie.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers!

Re: Buying dilemma - Help requested from fellow riders.

After thinking a lot and contemplating various options, finally I took the plunge and got the Btwin Triban 100 size L. Below are the initial impressions coming from a Btwin 7s rider.

      * Bike is light and fits my frame perfectly. My sit bones are perfectly aligned with the saddle.
      * The ride quality is good. Perfect balance between quick and compliant ride.
      * The bike is quicker than 7s.
      * Index shifter is very weird, it's possible to miss a gear or two while shifting. Though not a deal breaker, it's a fly in the ointment.
      * Saddle is on the harder side but pair of padded cycling shorts should do the job.

Thanks for approving the topic mods.

Thanks a lot zerobhp, I'll surely post my experience, possibly an ownership thread, as I add few hundred kilometers on the bike.

          Cheers!
