  • [Photo Feature]: Rent-a-cycle project takes off on an enthusiastic note

Hexi, a transportation company, has been appointed by the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation for creating and operating a public bicycle sharing company in the city.

The bicycles are fitted with GPS that would enable the authorities to track movements from the control room. The person hiring the cycle will have to return it to the nearest docking station from his destination.

The tariff for hiring a bicycle for half an hour would be Rs 5. For the initial five days the first half an hour ride would be free. People can also opt for one-day hiring plan at a cost of Rs 23, or a monthly plan of Rs 175 and six-monthly plan of Rs 706.
“The number of cycles will be increased to 1,000 in phases by Diwali,” -Municipal Commissioner. He said the NMC has plans to create cycle tracks wherever possible.

Initially, people have to download the Hexi app (Android/Ios) from Google Play Store and then sign up and choose a subscription plan. To begin the ride, they have to click ‘unlock bike’ option on the app and then will have to scan the QR code on the lock of the cycle to unlock it. When the drive is over, park the cycle at any cycle station and lock the cycle manually. Thereafter, rider will have to click ‘end trip’ option on the app.
Great initiative by Nashik Municipal Corporation [emoji16]✌️

Good concept, should be done across all major cities. I only hope some idiots don't steal these bicycles.
