The only reason I haven't booked this bike till now is the pillion seat. Though most of the times I'd be riding alone, but can't just use another bike to ride with a pillion. One would obviously think twice before taking their loved ones as a pillion on this bike.

Yamaha obviously did a great job by listening to the cusumer feedbacks and by improving the looks of the bike (esp. rear side). However, I'd say that they have made a little mistake (or overdid) by lifting the rear seat too much. Even the litre class SBK's doesn't have a rear seat as high as this one.

I'd really appreciate if Yamaha make some changes and lower the rear end a bit. That'd definitely be a winner by all means...

      Cheers!!!

PS: I am a big fan of Yamaha eversince one of my family members got a RX100 more than a decade back.

Have you tested one with a pillion? I wish they come out with a 250CC with the same looks, i will be the first one to buy it!

Being a proud owner of V2, the only sore point I too have to point out is the pillion seat comfort. Whoever sat as pillion found the ride very tough and backbreaking. I too wish the height and length of the pillion seat could have been optimized for the comfort of pillion. The new design is completely a rider's delight but for those who often have to carry around a pillion this won't be the best in comfort. I had as pillion people varying from 45kg to 90kg and all were complaining about the absence of grab rails and rough ride. As per their opinion they could feel even the slightest level difference of road on their back
Even I tried to know how it feels as a pillion and IMO the V1 sure was better for passenger.

And, I would be the second for sure.

Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D

              nice review

the rider on V2 seems riding the bike sitting on the tank and then complaining about the front dives a little more than it should though his positions seems like he is going to pop a stoppie
and xbhp always comes with a bike in run-in period so they can't rev or ride it to their limits. same the case with v2 & cbr
the engine and drivetrain tweaks is more to incoperate the bigger tyre affecting little to the actual performance
[these are my observations, no pun intended]

Great stuff...happy to see the changes finally getting noticed by the Byking industry...

Indian Byker is finally getting the taste of the good stuff..hope the Honda's, Kawk's & the rest start upgrading..as specially "Bajaj" should take notice and rethink the plan for the Age Old Pulsar.

Thanks for the g8 picks & writeup from Sundeep...

                  Reg.

                    Its V1 for me!

I resisted the urge to book V2.0 because of the pillion seat and finally settled for a year old V1.0 Limited Edition. Loving the ride...
                    My journey to R15: P150KS-> P200-> R15 V1.0

And my permanent pillion(a.k.a Wife) feels that pillion comfort is better in R15 than P200!

I think they shud've added some more mass to r15 given the nice top speed of the 6-speed box!
I dint find the bike very comfortable\stable nearing 120, while i cruise at 120 on my P220.
                      Otherwise Yamaha Rocks!!!
                      And Superb Pics Sir!!

got a review of R15 v2.0 from a lady pillion rider

getting on & getting of of the bike is the only problem facing with the bike, else the ride is so comfortable & quiet enjoyable
really surprised to hear it from a lady....

I wonder if the old rear seat cowling fits over the new one?

No chance, as that one is a strap-on for a single seat.
If Yamaha releases a proper seat cowl (like Ninja's) wherein the cowl replaces the rear seat, it will look fabulous on the new R15.
Btw, I got a seat cowl free from Yamaha for my old R15!
                              Quench my thirst with gasoline!
