Re: Yamaha FZ-s Fi Ridden and Reviewed

I drive for approx. 7-8 kms daily to office in heavy traffic and haven't felt any issues in driving stance. Its very comfortable for the driver, can't say about pillion. Although my roommate hasn't complained
If you are looking for a city commuter its an amazing bike to go for. On the weekends i drive for approx. 100-150 kms and do feel stressed after 50 odd kms, but that i guess is an issue in almost all sporty bikes.

Please do share some more of your observations . Good and bad (if any :-) )

I'm looking to buy a city commute friendly bike as my 4 year old R15 V1 isn't being nice on my back and wrists anymore :-)

This is my first bike and is really comfortable. I agree you will feel the strain after riding an hour or so. Getting 40+ mileage already without servicing. Main problem with the bike I would say the body is really scratch prone. The tank especially.

          HELLO xBhpians
Was browsing through yamaha FZS V2 FI pics and shocked to know this.
The clutch is on the left side of engine where there will be magneto instead of conventional right side.
Yamaha says it has very advanced electric charging system and optimized crank inertia(reduced crank inertia i am sure).
As it is an FI engine they would have used electronic pickup sensor for crankshaft position.

With it reduced torque(12.8 Nm from V1 13.6 Nm) and reduced crank inertia it will definitely not have same feel of older V1 FZS torquey nature which is easy to ride in urban roads.
I haven't ridden V2 till now, anyone who have ridden both can throw some light.

I was just blown away by the quality of the review.Recently i have purchased Yamaha Fz fi version 2.0. Done with my 1st service at bangalore.I have few questions:
            1. Mileage
            2. PErfect gear shifting time. At what rpm for every gear should i make the perfect shift.
            3. Will there be vibrations at 90kms or above speed. Its going till 4500rpm and speed is around 65Kms.
4.I am done with 1st service and they charged me with 720rs with 550rs for oil change.
5.Just today i completed 1000kms. Should i rev bike bit more. I found it loose power around 70 or should i wait till 2nd service is done
            6. What air pressure should be maintained in front and rear tires.

I did manage to drive my friends bike for few kms...That's was the first time I ever drove a FZ. Man, I should say, the ergonomics is much better than my P220 / CL500. love the little forward stance. Easing through traffic was nothing. Gave good output during WOT.

A beautiful sculptured machine with modern tech ...!!!

                  1. Mileage - FE is 40+ even in the worst circumstances, be it sane or insane ripping. Sometimes it may come down to 38/39 kmpl
                  2. PErfect gear shifting time. At what rpm for every gear should i make the perfect shift. - you can either shift between 4-5k rpm or go all the way till redline at 9k rpm, your wish; it's rev happy.
                  3. Will there be vibrations at 90kms or above speed. Its going till 4500rpm and speed is around 65Kms. - no bone-cracking vibrations till 100. Beyond that is still fine in terms of vibrations. It's only that the engine feels stressed. I have cruised at constant speeds of 103-107 kmph
4.I am done with 1st service and they charged me with 720rs with 550rs for oil change. - did they change oil filter as well? good for the engine health
5.Just today i completed 1000kms. Should i rev bike bit more. I found it loose power around 70 or should i wait till 2nd service is done - it doesn't loose power whatsoever, that's fi. Rev it and be happy, don't need to wait till the second one in my opinion
                  6. What air pressure should be maintained in front and rear tires. - front 28 for two up & city rides, and 27 psi for highway rides. rear 33 psi for two up & city rides, and 31/30 psi for highways.

Thank you so much for the reply. I will keep in mind the points you have told.

Today i started by bike after 3days and some burning smell coming near Engine. Please suggest.

I have clocked around 2300kms and 1st Service was done at 800kms. NOw i feel the bike is not running so smoothly. Also, Tires are loose air pressure without any punctures.

                          Hi

                          I am a Rookie here!

I fell in love FZ when it was first launched, for some reasons couldn't own one! now after so long gap, decided to go for FZ V2.0!

Have some questions, which experts around here can help me out with!

                          1) FZ FI , doesnt have a carburator, FI is the nextgen tech, but will i have issues/maintanance troubles in long run! heard there are very few technicians who are accustomed to this new tech and Show Room Service is Must!

                          2) I dont like the Rear tyre hugger on this beast, its an eyesore. if i get one, i will remove it for sure, but does it cause warranty troubles if i do so? also can i install the DUKE 200 or the Pulsar 200NS MudGuard to this new FZ FI?

                          3) What type of Helmets look good on Naked Bikes? i have Eclipse Vega open face helmet from my previous bike, which is very heavy and wobbles on my head...did not get small size!

Please advice! thanks to the xbhp gurus and experts!

I ain't a guru or an expert, or a pro for that matter but I have tried to answer your queries in bold below:

It's absolutely fine. With the increasing number of sales, Yamaha is ensuring professional presence in SVCs across the country. Besides, the bike's gem to ride if you aren't after top speed.

                            2) I dont like the Rear tyre hugger on this beast, its an eyesore. if i get one, i will remove it for sure, but does it cause warranty troubles if i do so? also can i install the DUKE 200 or the Pulsar 200NS MudGuard to this new FZ FI? Not sure about the other two, but you can definitely install the current FZ hugger.

Matching helmet looks with the bike is an individual perspective. But the fun fact is - a full face helmet looks good on any rider on any bike.
