waiting for duke 790 to compare with gsx 750

If duke 790 is launched below 7 lakh then i think it is better. Lesser weight and more power. Have to sacrifice many things though.
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Lesser weight yes, more power no, the Suzuki is 4 cylinders and 114bhp, the ktm is 2 and 105 BHP, I feel the Suzuki will do better on the highways then the KTM. Likeliness of ktm launching the 790 is unlikely atm, I feel They will concentrate on launching the 390 adventure next in India.

I too am waiting for someone to give updates and ownership insights. Still no road test/review available online, just the original BIC reviews.

I'm so badly waiting for a test ride here. Seeing the lethargic attitude the people show here in SMK Suzuki Chennai, turns me off from this sweet machine. Called them 3 times in last 45 days. They told me test ride vehicle will come in July 1st week. Spoke with them yesterday. They gave a very disinterested response telling me, they'll call when the bike arrives! Argh.

Damn, Kawasaki would've earned a customer long time ago if their Z900 had traction control. Guess if the Suzuki is not worth waiting, might as well get the Z900 now!

Dont let an uninterested sales guy put you off from such a great bike. Like you, many other bikers have stayed away from the Z900 due to its lack of electronics and safety net. These make a difference in real world emergency situations. Just remember that the sales guy and you have a one time transaction but the service guys and you will be interacting more frequently. I will suggest you talk to the service guys and gauge their competence and comfort factor with servicing the S750 and use that as a benchmark to eliminate or stick to the S750.

Yes, that's a really valid point. If I could get in touch with a Hayabusa rider in Chennai, we can easily gauge how their service experience has been so far, because except that one showroom no one else sells Suzuki's superbikes in Chennai. So they are bound to service there. I reckon some special personal might come home and do the service too but not really sure.

Re: Suzuki GSX-S750 - The new middleweight champion?

I saw the GSX-S750 and GSX-1000R yesterday in Pune showroom. The 1000 feels lighter while the 750 feels wider. This is just the initial bum-on-the-saddle feel and not the ride. Their SUEPRBIKE manager was not there at that time so no test ride and they don't keep the keys as well in the showroom too(that's what I was told).
Both bikes were Suzuki's own and display and test ride bikes.
While the 1000R retails for about 23 lakhs on road Pune, the 750 will punch a hole by 9.3 lakhs onroad Pune. I quite liked the bike and probably gonna be the dream big bike in future.
I'm 5'6" and weighs slightly more than 60 kilos so not the bodybuilder at all.
It's been a long time astride the Street Triple so can't recall how it felt.
Z900 was HEAVY!! That was apparent when I tried to get a feel of the bike.
                    Regards,
                    Akash Yadav

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Z900 is much lighter than the 800 funny enough, I found the 800 very flickable in traffic, only felt the weight on U- turns, i weight 94kgs soo, yeah, the 750 weighs about 214kgs but what advantage it has is the 3 level traction control and Suzuki easy start, n makes it a tad cheaper than the 900 and a good lakh and a half or 2 cheaper than the striple S. Another thing is its coming in as CKD soo the cost of spares shouldnt be too high.

                        Hi,

Do you mean the old Z800? because that was really heavy at 231kgs and had a tall seat height of 830mm too. When I tested the new Z900 it just felt as heavy as Bajaj Dominar. Also for your height and weight parameters you will like the Z900 more because of the low seat height of 790mm. Do try to get a test ride soon to know more. S750 has a taller seat at 820mm.

The new Street Triple 765 S is also really good with close to 25 kgs less weight than the Japanese street fighters, but Triumph India has priced themselves out of the class, costing ₹2lakhs extra on road in Chennai.

                        Cheers!

To be honest, the old z800 feels heavy only at standstill, but once your moving, I found it surprisingly flickable, yet to ride the Z900. Rode the street triple S and boy it was light af, more like a 300-400cc bike but post 4000 rpm it screams unlike the rs where the power comes in at 6000, another option I would consider is the gsx s 750.

Re: Suzuki GSX-S750 - The new middleweight champion?

Hi I am planning to buy SBK
                            Suzuki GSX S750 or Z900

I have test ridden it. I just wanted an insight that would z900 or S750 be worthy.
Cause checked with forums and other sites.

Suzuki claims to have 20-25 Kmpl.
While it's very vague that z900 mentioned 15.3Kmpl.

I talked to the showroom guy he say's Z900 could go 18-22Kmpl on highway.

So, my point is. Mileage is a part of choosing a bike.
Because other matrix are almost matched.

Some has Traction control other has power.
Even though we have power but not gonna cross 200 all the time.

Don't patronize me on looking for mileage.

It's just one of the main factor. Cause if I can save 5 Kmpl. In a long turn. I can see that I am saving much more even after other costs.

                            Plus already have D390

If it was me, I would go for the Suzuki just because of the traction control.
Plus the Suzuki is a rarer site on the road, their service cost is less, they sound better with the stock exhaust and as you said it has better efficiency.

The only thing I see going for the Kawasaki is the power, popularity and a wider dealership network as compared to Suzuki.
