Bikes shortlisted test-drives and final selection:
1) Pulsar NS 160:
Like the looks of the bike similar to elder sibling but the refinement levels are not up to the mark. Feels very raw to me. The dealership experience was average. They didn't offer any test drives initially but when I pushed, they removed the speedometer of a new NS and offered me a test drive. They didn't have any specific test drive vehicle. I'm a little disappointed that they are offering someone's booking as test drive vehicle.
2) Honda Xblade:
The dealership experience was good. They are offering test drives for every customer with a dedicated vehicle. Now coming to the Xblade, every thing was comfortable but I feel it is a bit too comuter-ish. Other than digital display and looks it seems similar to Unicorn to me. Nonetheless, I liked the looks of the bike and almost zeroed on it for purchase.
3) Apache RTR 160 4V:
Dealership experience was excellent but I was not interested in purchasing Apache because my brother is already using the Apache 160 4V and I feel it is cramped for my height 6'1 and causes wrist pain. It looks big in person but when I sat on saddle I felt cramped compared to Xblade or NS160.
4) Xtrme 200R and Xtreme Sports:
Dealership experience was nice. They had dedicated test drive vehicles and pushing potential customers of Xtreme Sports and Achiever to 200R. Coming to the test drive experience, Xtreme 200R was nice but I didn't feel any noticeable difference comparing to other 150 cc vehicles. Why to compromise on cost? It is costs 15k more than NS and Xblade in my town. Mileage is also a compromise. Sports and Achiever are outdated and Hero may pull the plugs off of them any time soon, so struck off Hero from my mind.
Yamaha FZ Fi
Dealership was known to me from past 6 years pathetic at best, so although I was inclined towards FZ, struck it off immediately.
Suzuki Gixxer:
I was least interested in Gixxer before test driving it. But visited their dealership to check the vehicle. The experience was nice. They offered test drive. Once I was done with the test drive, I was impressed with the seating and handlebar position. It felt more comfortable than NS and RTR, although looks smaller compared to them.
So finally I had to decide between Xblade and Gixxer.
After comparing and discussing with friends I went for the Gixxer and I am very happy with it.
Pros and cons according to me, compared to Apache:
1)Pros
A)Gixxer
Smooth refined engine
Comfortable seating position
Good and stable handling
B)Apache
Raw power and bassy exhaust
Linear power delivery
Butter smooth gear shifting
Cons
A)Gixxer
Hard gear shifting
B)Apache
Cramped seating position
Finally, I am happy with my purchase
