While we are on the subject of suggestions. May I request that the 'What Bike' section should be locked so that only the Senior members(or members with above a certain nos. of posts) can give their advice. More often than not a newbie lands on one of those old threads, makes some revolting post and that lights everybody's fire.

An example for the same from the News section:

      That would be wrong.
      Not everyone is a mod.
And the mods are too busy and overworked.
How about adding me to the list of the moderators

This IS OT but since you've been around quite long and been a positive contributor to the forum, I shall respond to your query.

The member 'It's Me' was banned not for one single post but for a series of misdemeanors knowingly committed on the forum over a period of time. Within barely a month and a half of his arrival on the forum, he was warned twice and infracted once for being rude and over-stepping established boundaries of on-forum behaviour. Yet he did not restrain himself from showing what is colloquially called 'attitude' these days, a surprisingly neutral term both for the best and the worst a person can offer of himself/herself.

Your guess about the post you've highlighted as being the reason for his banning is wrong. That particular post was rude and offensive to the point of being abusive. This was inspite of being warned by Sunny just a couple of posts before he 'exploded' with his attitude.

Maintaining forum decorum and protecting the rights of members to freely express themselves is the paramount purpose for the presence of mods here. Sit through a 10-member group discussion, without any controlling element, and watch what happens. Now scale it up to some 400,000 posts (each is an interaction) and you'll realise what moderation is all about.

This is a very very rare occurrence when an explanation is being put forth about a certain action instituted against an erring member. This shall definitely not be a regular feature and I request members to please trust and respect the abilities and efforts of the moderators who are doing an already difficult job and that too on a purely voluntary basis.

I for one, dont endorse the idea of the 'marking' people on post counts or on the 'reps'\'thanks' ...
Some of the super seasoned pro's of this industry are here on the forum with bare minimum posts... (and eventualy "thanks" is a direct function of the number of posts too!)

While I would agree that there is a need to kick up some kind of an incentive scheme... but the post counts, votes are quite not right... take this for a POC, Mr.Anurag Ashok hardly has 1/6th as my posts, why is he a senior member and in all likelihood he will have more 'reps' than me...
Why so? duh, may be just because he has an imported bike?

The idea of the statement was not to offend him~! The idea was to show that these indicators more or less suck.. and if you restrict the grant of reps to a certain set of people it will end up into a race for ass licking OR SO IT MAY SEEM! and when assumptions take over, you end up making a mess of a beautiful community!
Anyone still confused with the example, please try it on our OF sir... lol It would take me some 300 million posts, and would need to yet delete some 100 posts of him to match off with the reputation he has ...!

My suggestion, lets do with negative karma...
Everyone has a default rank (or does not have a rank) and then based on thier post counts, others members can give a negative fraction point to that post! Like so and so members have posted x flaimbaits, x OTs and so on...! This would scare the shit out of useless posters and still establish a 'reputation' of sorts!

Those who agree, lol look around, why do you need a jazzy software, start reporting useless posts...

(not this one though please )

Ah and an easier option. Stick around and you will know whose advice you could take

We have many things lined on xBhp and will start a thread which accepts members suggestions soon. The subject of this thread is also noted as a point.
