  • Love (its a Motor Cycle thing)

Have you ever been in Love? Ok that’s fine you really don’t have to put up you love storied here on the fourm and fill up the space.
Let me answer this question cause I am writing thism it was back in 1995 that once I got a chance to stand beside a bullet standard 350 and unfortunately that thing fell on me and I was a feeble kid at that time and I was really praying to the all mighty to save me and I will be a good boy and not do all that I have been doing. So I escaped with some bruises on the leg that story was untold to the parents cause I know then my dad wouild have whooped my lower back side again for being naughty (a perception that they had that I would have done some tihing). Any ways years passed, I moved on almost forgot about the whole thing. Then came in the real love I was back from the alien land to the home land. Started off the life from scratch again. My very good friend used to have a Bullet 350 Electra. Started riding it, I just used to love it that I was so tempted to buy one even though my previous short term relation with a 500 did not bring in this feeling but that was all to be blamed on the bad weather of the alien land.
The feeling got stronger when that bullet was left with me for a month and I used to ride it like every day the attention that I used to get, kinda loved it or may be it was just me who was paying attention to my self.
Then came a day in the month of November 2006 that my best friend Jaitowala moved to Dili so that we can live together, it was almost going to be a year that I was dreaming to buy the bullet. He has the silver Electra which I generally refer to as mine cause that works out that way. he had to leave for 15 days for a project, the 15 dats were too long they became almost 4 months. And all this time the electra was at my disposal. I had to take care of it. Now this is when I fell for this machine. I really wanted to get one. They G2G’s of the starting 2007 always saw me with the silver Electra.

Sorry i still have to complete it please wait for further

I see a certain passion existing between you and your bikes, the way you talk about them, the way you look at them, it reminds me of a little appreciated but a brilliant film called AJANTRIK by a great director called Ritwik Ghatak where he depicts the relationship between a man his passion, his vintage car.

I really want to see you one day riding one of those Great restored Classics.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

          Where is the love.

In the end of november the bike started giving me problems with the starting idleing and all that. Again too it to the mechanic. To find out out that the timming needs to be worked out as the timming pinions are fake as discussed earlier. I was still fine cause I thought to my self that ok another grand would not hurt. But there was some thing that was to be unpacked for me. We opened up the head cause there were weird sound being made in the barrel. Then we came to know that the barrel was also sleaved it was not a good thing cause the ovualty of the piston had changed cause of that and the bike was picking up the engine oil even though I never realize it. So this time it was decied that I am going to get the engine done and that would put my worries to end. The whole engine rebuild cost me 10K in total. It was a pain. But I was in love at that time with my JEETA. The bike ran fine it was the end of the month of feb that I had my bike with almost 200 km on the dial after the engine was done. I had to do the runnin of the bike as I had to go to the ultimate ride of the till life. Taking this to the account I planned a small trip to Braj Ghat almost 70 Km from GZB. Things were going fine just when I crossed the city of gazziabad. (till now I had been riding at 50-60)I tried to open up a bit and bham. The exaust valve went kaput and I was strangled there. Any way a new exaust valve did the trick there. After that every thing went fine till the last days when the bike was being prepared for the trip, came to know that the clutch center was no good for the ride and would not be able to handel the stress. No choice because I was in love got the thing changed at that time it was like 3000 that was spent again just on the repairs. This and that tits and bits. But I was a happy camper. The bike ran real good for 2400 KM out of which most of you know how hard is the terrain, the bike gave no problems. No problems means nothing at all. Even the bike knee deep in water did not stall which was amazing. I was just so thankfull to the all mighty and JEETA for making my RIDE to the top of the world a success.

          to be continued.

Wow! That was interesting. I am still thinking of my Bullet days. I learnt on my father's Bullet when I could not even reach the ground with my feet. He taught me to open his first Jawa when most of the guys out here were not even born other than our Aeronautical Engineer! And then he helped me get my first Enfield when I was 22. As I was telling you, I do not remember the number of times that Bullet had stalled just at the hint of some heavy clouds in the sky and I had to push it back to my room in the Univ, often 8-10kms on the trot. But I never parted with it. Had installed disc brakes on them in the 90s. Travelled entire Rajasthan, North UP, Rohtang Pass several times and thankfully I never had problems while touring. I rode that for 15 years through a LOT. I felt quite grief stricken giving her away. But I did it with a heavy heart.

How did you manage it when your Valve went Bham at Ghaziabad. You got your bike towed to a mech? There are such similarities in the stories that people had to go through with their Bullets! And yet they cling on to them. And that factor is inexplicable. Whch is what DD calls Love.

Bringing this thread back alive, I just bid farewell to another great friend last evening and already feeling an empty space and all lost!!

Then was doing the count and realized its happened before and has taken quite long to refill that space..

                              2003
Bid farewell to my Caliber a.k.a "Butterfly" to get myself a Bullet Machismo

                              2005
Bid farewell to my stock bullet a.k.a "Nessie" for she underwent major surgery after which she was rechristened "Black Venom" (well this kinda took some getting used to, from stock to redone)

                              2008
Bid farewell to my not so stock bullet a.k.a "Black Venom" due to reasons beyond my control such as travel time, distances and working hours and days. So settled to using a Zen a.ka. "Silver Streak"

                              2009
Bid farewell to a Thunderbird a.ka. "Crucifer" (borrowed for 4 months) from a friend who wasn't able to use the bike due to health conditions. Now back to settling with "Silver Streak" who was used by everyone but me during that period of time.

June 2009 will bid farewell to "Silver Streak" as I would be off to Coimbatore and would not be taking her with me there, and she would be used by everyone else but me all over again..

The bright side of it all is that end of this month another "Black Venom" will be born but more in the form of a much much much smaller bike the Unicorn. And yes she is all black as well as "Black Venom" was. Just trying my level best to get the same registration number as "Black Venom" and hopefully I don't really have to shell out too much money to get the number as well..
