I tried...loong back with walkman's and cassettes.and stopped the experiment.I agree ,it is unresistable still -it is seriously a risk ,I'd say.esp in india traffic -where a bike or car or cycle or pedestrian can come from any side anywhere :S .

Now I like humming old hindi/tamil/malayalam melodies when in cruise "mode" .else ,in town traffic ,I cannot .with my car - FM is the current time pass though

PS:I have seen some of my muslim friends using some hand press "counter" used while riding - they are chanting their prayers "n" times ,I suppose
PPPS : a bubble gum inside mouth is more enjoyable if you are doing high speeds?

A research sometime back said that listening to music while riding 2 wheelers increases the chances of a mishap.

Also that listening music at high volumes while riding disrupts your senses and increases the reaction time...
        SO WHAT
        X----------------------------X------------------------------X---------------------------X
I don't often listen to music while riding.
But when i do, it is soft music at low volumes.

I donno why ppl think it decreases situational awareness...At a decent volume, its pretty good relaxation...controls road rage i say on my part...and given the number of times you want to KILL idiots on our roads, i say thats a good thing..
Though get some canal ones, will block our noise, and probably save you from sheer deafness..

GET RVMs when ur riding with music on, and KEEP THE VOLUME LOW GUYS!

for me, the music list is......oh maan..where do i begin?!?!? Everything that sounds good..
Though try and avoid Pantera and sh*t coz it really gets u pumped up and probably suicidal..Hehe..

Exactly m1g, it calm me down too! Esp in cases where you want to react to rash driving!

And shutting off all the cacophony on the road means i reach my destination more relaxed and fresh, rather than stressed out!

Its upto Rider's choice / comfortness.
If he/she is comfortable listening to music while riding, its ok. If he/she has the slightest hesitation or gets nervous/panicky, then he should avoid. Atleast it is safer than talking over the phone & riding (as if some of the most important decisions have to be made while riding or driving . It cant be done when you are not in motion. The whole essence is lost somewhere.)

Anyways, I have been listening to music while riding since I started biking. Atleast it soothens my nerves while struch in Jams

Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, U2, Trance , Hip-Hop (not all, very selected), Trance etcs while in bit hurry to reach somewhere

Slow Songs, Romantic songs, World music, Kandisa, Hindi songs (very very selected) etc while riding straights or alone in the Night when streets are empty

So damn rite, else I'm just fuming by the time I get back home..NOT A GOOD THING...Fuming up on the road will lead to more accidents! Sometimes you just soooo want to kill some crackhead in a rickshaw or something, for such ignorance and lack of respect for other's lives..going the wrong way, no indicators, nothing...
