There are 3 points to consider when there is an accident to a fellow rider. Deaths are caused due to these - (these all are info, collected on internet) and the interest of bikers, I am merely copy-pasting it.

1: Internal bleeding that was not detected
2: Post incident trauma which sets in a lot later
3: Large broken bones lead to large fat globules emitted in the blood stream causing a heart attack.

If some one who knows medicine can point out as to what steps be needed in a new thread shall do good to most of us.

From what I think & have read -

1: Anything can happen even if we are careful and proficient
2: In the event of an accident, never mind the broken bones, those can be attended to later, focus on the shock trauma and scan for internal bleeding
3: Keep that margin of error - distances, escape path etc.
4: Invest in all those safety gears. One hopes you never use them but that one time you might use them will be an investment

Oh god! Damn! Fractures can be so dangerous I never knew this?
Even I had a bad fracture in which the bone clearly broken, and was almost out of the skin. I was bleeding for hours, but I somehow made it out alive.
I never knew this could have happened to me too?

And if I ever die on xbhp, damn, people on xbhp won't even know about it. Ahh... Whatever... forgive me guys, these deaths make me talk morbid stuff!

    R.I.P Again Waseem.

Waseem was more than a brother to me.
What he told his family was that a gypsy driver hit him on the vip road (bhopal).
The bike took a great damage, waseem coudnt leave his bike in time and was dragged along with it. He broke his leg and the two parts of the bone slide over each other. He was thrown to the other side of the road.
When he was brought to the hospital and i went to meet him he was perfectly fine, we were all discussing how it happened and he was telling us that you should see the condition of bike and the helmet which he was wearing as they were literally destroyed.
The next day i got news that his condition was getting worse and he was being shifted to some other hospital as he was to be put on ventilator. I rushed to the hospital where they did the MRI and found that the bone marrow from the fracture region has mixed with blood and deposited in the lungs due to which he couldn't breathe. His lungs were gone and he was totally dependent on the ventilator. His condition got worse by evening when his pulse fell to 15-16. Though he recovered that and pulse went to 50's by midnight.
The next day in the morning suddenly his heart failed and he was gone, forever.

I would just advise you fellow bikers to get an MRI done asap after an accident no matter how small the injury seems. Internal bleeding can kill you. Dont take even a small pain lightly.
I lost a very good friend.
May his soul rest in peace.

^^Exactly is what I believe. With the modern technology allowing us to detect internal injuries which mostly go unnoticed by best of the doctors, we should always opt for it after any major-minor accidents and mainly those which involve brain injury. Early diagnosis of such internal injuries could be life savers. When it comes to question of life or death, one should always give priority to such tests even if they are expensive and offered in select hospitals.

I know of an incident where my relative's friend died due to internal bleeding in his brain months after a small incident when a luggage bag had fallen on his head during a train journey to his native. That time there were no external injuries so he did not even bother to visit doctor. Later he started getting migraine like feats and finally succumbed to death.

                    • well, this is exactly what happened to me when i had an accident.

I had 13 fractures all over my body, i was taken to hospital and operated on 2 times by doctors. 1st surgery, half of the fractures were attended, then doctors took a break and continued to put rods and plates in remaining fractures.

since a large number of bones were broken and even thigh bone ( which is the largest bone in our body) was broken in two pieces......a large amount of bone marrow was releasedin the blood.

when bone marrow is mixed with blood, blood starts to clot inside the body of human. this blood when passes through lungs blocks its pores. finally a stage is reached when all the lung is blocked and person dies.

this condition happened with me, but doctors were quick to recognize it and the remedy is a very simple one...........instead of normal oxygen, they give you pressurized oxygen derectly and attach it to your nose and mouth and seal off so that pressure is not leaked......its very simple you apply the air pressure in opposite direction of lung blockage, to clear it and then give strong medicines to break that clots into fine particles.

with me this procedure lasted around ten days untill all my lungs were clear. the doctors were taking chest x-rays at every hour.

believe me its very simple to detect.....by a simple x-ray of chest....it turns white.....in parts of lungs...all it needs is a good doctor.

but this pressurized air treatment is very painfull....

when i was out of danger....a physiotherapist trained me how to breath again.....yes i was trained to breath.......difficult to hear.....after few days i was made to do lung strenghtening exercises....like blowing air into a device....and sucking air from that device with some plastic balls....
the doctor used to push my chest in and i had to exhale ......

very strange ....but yes.....i learned how to breath .......after 3 months i had to learn.....simple things like--how to walk.....how to climb stairs....

                      it was all very painfull............

but not only did i survived......i am able to live my life........again like a normal person.........

                      thanks to sancheti hospital, pune...........................

guys, one thing i want to tell you.....god forbid, but if anybody has a accident in and around pune-mumbai region................sancheti hospital, pune is the best place......to be treated in............

before being taken to sancheti hospital......i was turned down by other doctors i do not want to name......coz they thought i had 0% chances of survival in 24 hours.
