  • Moonstruck - India Makes History

India became the fourth country on Earth to land a probe on the moon, when its first unmanned lunar spacecraft Chandrayaan-1 sent down the Moon Impact Probe (MIP) painted in the Indian tricolour.

The 34 kg probe instrument was hurled from an altitude of 100 kms. onto the lunar surface. It reached on the Moon's surface at 8:31pm IST (Friday, November 14, 2008 - today). It is a proud moment for all of us. The Indian tricolour is painted on all sides of the Moon Impact Probe which is attached to the main orbiting spacecraft, Chandrayaan-1. It was launched from Earth on October 22, 2008.

I don't know about you guys, but I have been following the developments very closely and feel really proud that finally the mission has been a success.

    P.S:
The Indian tricolour had been hoisted on Mount Everest and Antarctica. And now it is on the moon.

    P.P.S:
This topic is obviously not connected to motorycles/motorcycling in ANY way but I totally believe that this is a moment to celebrate and hence this thread.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of us and to the whole team of Chandrayan-1!

yea man.. totally agree with u, Actually the Media was covering Raj Thackeray's bullshit on the time of the launch of the Probe(?).. so not many of us are really aware of this, anyways.. IT IS ACTUALLY A PROUD MOMENT FOR US INDIANS.

    P.S.: already dreaming of moon G2G ..

Thanks for sharing this information with us Leon.
I knew that other countries were closely involved in the mission, but I was completely unaware of the specifics..
          Thanks once again

I am proud of the fact that our chandrayaan mission was open to everyone. It is there for everyone to see, not like the Chinese which keeps its space program a total secret and on top of that some chinese buggers were doubting our moon mission and calling it a flop.

I hope we carry out many more missions in the future.

There cannot be a greater achievement today for a nation like ours. Unfortunately, all the the media likes to cover is some political and non-sense CR@P...
I salute all those who made this possible...
