  • bikers v/s pedestrians

I thought of started this thread..after seeing lack of sense of traffic rules between the people living in our country.
every biker faces this problem and which frustrating,excruciating,pathetic...
lack of knowledge of the traffic rules have made the rods of india a slaughter house where every day many people die in road accidents because of this...

pedestrians dont understand that roads are meant for riding vehicles not for walking pedestrians walk in the middle of the road and hence create problem for our fellow bikers........and the most frustrating part is that when we see people running like mad dogs while crossing the road..
pedestrians will never use the overbridge, subway or even use the zebra crossing ,or even wait for the red light to go on

i face this thing every single day when i go to my tuitions and see people running like wild dogs on the middle of the road and causing pain to themsleves and to others .
lack of knowledge of traffic rules has created a problem in our life .
most of the pedestrians dont even bother to look on the either side of the road they just gossip over the phone and straight away walk on the busy road and when someone hits them then the fault is tottaly slapped on th fellow driver of the vehicle.

yesterday when i was returning home encountered many such problem
a uncle was walking on the middle of the road and i slightly hit him and then he said "cycle ka bell nahi baja sakte ?"
then i answered "aap jaise logon ke liye maine bell nahi lagay hai"
then that guy said "ek thappar dunga tujhe"
the i said "jake apne b**p ko maar"
THIS type of incident creates much of tension, anger, agony to everyone [including me]

yeah they make riding our vehicle more challenging than before and we like challenges isnt it? so y not motoGP is held on public roads?

and yeah this makes us more mature and helps us to enhace the capabilty to control our bike to a great extent.
and people used to these riding conditions surely dont face much problem in other countries when they go like US,UK,etc.....

why dont the pedestrians walk on the sidewalk of the road and why the local governing bodies dont even bother to check/remove the sidewalks where the "thelawalas" capture the whle of sidewalk creating nuisance

so think the sense of traffic will only come into people when we make stringent rules for these people who take traffic rules for granted.

Pedestrians, at times do pose a serious threat to both themseves and other road users. The worst of all, they seem to just leisurely walk across the road signalling by their hand to the vehicle approaching to pass by!

Now, that the big bikes are being launched in India, the situation might turn more grimmer simply because these pedestrians cannot judge the speed at which these machines can hurl towards them. Although inside town/city it's still okay as there is no provision to really speed up, but in highways, this results in deaths and nothing else.

Anyhow, simply putting the blame only on the pedestrians would be wrong as I have seen the motorcyclists take the pedestrian's route (foot-paths) many a times as well, which is shocking no less!

P.S: @Haxor: Your images are not showing up. Kindly upload it on the net and then post the links here.

Aaahhh.......when you get a bike, just run them over.

On a serious note I am annoyed by the people who cross the road without looking in the direction the oncoming traffic is.(which is from both sides in India).
The other day I literally endoed my bike while saving a person who was crossing the road while looking at the ground.

The pedestrians usually think that it is the responsibility of the rider/driver to take care of them. Secondly, pedestrians don't think when they see any vehicle coming at a distance. They usually assume that it will take time for the vehicle to reach them which will give them ample time to cross. They totally overlook the speed at which the vehicle is approaching them. Also, you never know where will they go once they are in the middle of the road and realise that they are about to be hit.

And most of them I hate those people who don't use overhead bridges & subways and run across the roads & jump the dividers seeking a short cut across the road as well to hell. I hate those with cycles peeping out of highway dividers. And in congested residential area I have even seen children running across the road from one house into another. They feel that the road is a part of their house. Once I hit a boy while riding a cycle. The boy suddenly ran out of his home towards the opposite side without realising that I was in between them . Then his mom came out and she too slipped . I said "I will come back tomorrow. Make you are up by then :P".
