I was in Sea Cadet Corps from the year 1999-2005.
Was trained at TS Jawahar,Colaba and INS Kunjali,Colaba.
We had to be in one of the following.

1. Sailing
2. Boat pulling
3. Guards
4. Rescue
5. Bands

But i tried my hands in everything.Was there in guards for a few weeks , did sailing a couple of times in optimus sail boat.Did get a chance to try hands on entreprise sail boats.Learnt flute while i was in band and rescuing the sailors when i was in rescue.
In those 5.5 years learn a lot and had an awesome time.
I was very naughty and was at times given punishment to wash hats.
All my plans to join Merchant Navy got ruined when i got 59% in my HSC.

Ahhh seafarers.Im a deck cadet appearing for second mates now.I ride ktm duke 200 and its definitely gonna be hard for me to part away whenever i join vessel.Anybody interested to join merchant navy, please consider your family decision, your decision and then only go for it.As vibbs sir has pointed out, many people go just for the money and come back disappointed.I just wanted to do graduation, merchant navy offered it thas why i joined.After finishing this, i'll sail for 2-3 contracts as a second mate and will do mba for shore job.Thinking of doing MBa in logistics and supply chain.any other career options?

P.S. 8 months at home aremaking me crazy.many times. i think of getting into a dinghy and go onboard.Shipping does this to you.
