  • XBHP ID cards: Shouldn't we have something like that?

As an extreme xbhpian (read, noob silently listening to seniors) I always fancied having something with me to show others that i'm an xbhpian. I think it will be of great help especially in auto shops, service centers etc, where you have to prove that you are not totally ignorant. Overall it will be a secret pride for many of us to have one of them.
So, what I'm talking about is an XBHP OFFICIAL ID CARD, which will be issued on an amount ( Decision left to the leaders) through the xbhp stuff shop...
Did some photoshop and made a sample one. I would like to get the feedback on this idea from all of you...

Great idea. But xbhp or the icard should clearly mention "xbhp is not liable for any activity of the member which is not accepted by the law" i think. No offence to anybody's sentiments.

          Please Note:

xBhp does not endorse any kind stunts or unlwaful behaviour on roads and always promotes road safety. Also someone who uses xBhp.com website or puts a xBhp sticker on his motorcycle does not in any way become part of the xBhp 'official' group in any way. The official group is only comprised of the xBhp administrators, moderators and any official xBhp roadtrip (which is listed under the xBhp Official Roadtrip category in the forums. We are also not responsible for any member doing any unlawful activity on road, or getting into an accident on any unofficial roadtrip which may posted on xBhp.

It will serve no purpose. We have enough stuff to flaunt (bike stickers, caps, tees and magazine) to show that we are xBhpians. Chargeable ID cards would be a headache, costly and time consuming affair for core team (= new/old members coming in and out, in thousands) and how you exactly gonna know whom you giving out those to and what they gonna use it for anyways? I already have enough cards in my wallet which makes riding a pain in the bottoms.

Even if it's free, I wouldn't care to have one.

I thought that's why we had stickers, isn't it?

BTW, there're quite a few out there who choose to be more than ignorant; it's quite evident if you go through few posts here

never did such a detailed study.. So, in this context the request for ID card does not make a sense...

Sir, I did state a few purposes.

Hehe... I can understand the last part... And it would surely be a tiresome task for the core team...

As for stickers, I'm someone who dislike any type of extra stickers on my bike and love to keep it stock. What if there are more with the same mindset?

as satyen said, it is not of much use.

besides, if you want to take benefits, how many mechanics or service centers know xbhp...??

and being is xbhp is nothing to flaunt, its more of a kind of brotherhood, where you form a base to interact and share knowledge and other things.

it is voluntary and non-selective membership. anyone can be a member.

                      You are missing the point

We are NOT the "Official Members" in its true sense...
So! the use of an iCard for "us" is simply out of the question. And so...

Being a member of xBhp website by filling up just a form doesn't prove that one is following laws and is not ignorant to rules and regulations. So how can they judge one whether to give such ID cards or not ? It will require some process/tests and all... And after all these efforts, what will be the use? Nothing. For purposes you mentioned, knwoledge, which you can gather from this site and magzine, is sufficient. No need of any ID card for that...
As for the show-off thing (a general statement which is not pointing to anyone), is being an xBhp member a thing to show-off !? I guess it's not... We are here to share knowledge, experiences in order to make biking more comfortable/more safe...
Originality is the art of hiding your sources...

I was watching this discussion silently.

Its one of those great but (sadly) impractical ideas. Its difficult to implement them correctly. There are too many members so all can't be issued i-cards.
And issuing cards to some of them based on any criterion (fees, age, experience, etc.) will create a divide- those who have a card and those who don't. This might, again raise unseen problems.
Treating all members equally is an ethical policy, and will be maintained.

And, What if some guy with such a card breaks some rules, shows the card to Police, and lands Xbhp into undeserved trouble? Stickers on a bike are usually ignored as some artist's imagination. But I-Card is a serious stuff.

Press cards for moderators is a good idea as they are reliable (some members are reliable too, no doubt), known to Xbhp core team personally, and around 10-50 in number.

                            unique identity

nice idea for xbhp ID cards !
arun sorry bro but we xbhp bikers doesn't need to prove ourselves that "we are xbhp bikers, or we are different from other people" we biker brothers & our bikes connected through our hearts.& if you thinking about our identity so we all xbhp bikers have their own unique identity.
YES! we all have our unique bikes. Each & every xbhp bike have some unique features & modifications.
Not every xbhp biker posted their own D.I.Y but we all done at least once in a lifetime .we all xbhp biker brother are unique & different from the crowd of commuter people.
