  • GoKart Fabrication Project

So as none of you know i am a student in mechanical engineering here in Greater Noida. As it\'s knowledge park there are loads of competitions that come for students. So about the competition it is a national competition in which the participating teams will have to create a go-kart for commercial production capabilities and should be properly engineered.

There were 2 Rounds in this competition:

    Round 1: Virtual

Virtual round was the round in which the teams are requires to create a virtual car on the computers. So we used solid-works and catia for the design and stress tests and i consider us lucky to have cleared the round. The engine that we are using is a Briggs and Stratton engine which is a US Based mover engine production company

This is what we created finally!!

    Round 2: Fabrication

Now having cleared the virtual round we have started fabricating the vehicle so i thought i had to share it. Here are some pics and videos to show what i do.

    Day 1:

This is parts cutting for chassis on Power-Hexa

    Day 2:

    Welding of parts

End of day 2 and we could get this far

    Day 3:

    More welding

    Some more welding

    ...

    Day 4:

    Grinding process

    Engine Mounts done

    End of day 4

    This is our college team.

i would upload further pics from fabrication as we move furthur and i hope to finish it by end of january, then we have testing and then bhopal go kart speedway for competition in feburary

Tell the Guy using the Grinder , He should not bend over a Spinning grinder. Your face should not be above it while working. Most grinders spin above 10000rpm , and cutting wheel failure is very very common. Infact one out of 3 wheels will break into splinters while working.
Very easy to loose an Eye or facial Cuts.
Wear a face mask if he can , or atleast get his head out of plane grinder wheel.

      Good luck on the Project.
You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed

thank you for the advice although my face was not above it it was sideways it was a camera angle that shot it but now most of the chassis design has been done so no more worries now
