  • How do i convince my parents to buy me a royal enfield

Hello folks. Im new to xbhp been following xbhp since two years recently registered. I think xbhp is a great place its like a bikers facebook.

A little background to my question.

2 years back my friend purchased a royal enfield bullet classic 500 and naturally hanging out with him i rode it. Ever since i rode it i fell in love with it.
Ocassionally i'd get to ride the beast and it felt simply blissful.

Now the urge to own the bull ignited in me and urge became dream, dream became words, words became request and it has been stuck on that ever since. I've been egging my parents since 2 years

So here i am looking outward to you guys to give idea, trick or any way i can convince my parents.

Just for information problem ain't financial it's just my dad thinks its a huge noisy petrol chugger. But i think differently :/

Topic Approved & moved to off topic discussion.

    Hey Askmenot buddy,

What's up? Firstly, welcome to Xbhp, and it would be nice to have an introduction in the "Who are you?" Section.

I've moved your topic, as the Help Me Section is meant for Help regarding Motorcycle issues only...

As for your problem, you can probably take your dad towards the topics of safety, resale and torque.... Speak something on the following lines:-

    1. Make an impression that Bullet is very hard to damage or crash. If it crashes against another bike, Bullet will not break! With a huge wheelbase its hard to crash because it gives stability. And with a disk brake, the only one person who can stop a Bullet is its rider!

    2. And a very strong point is resale value. You can buy a Bullet, and re sell it for even 80-90% of its price (if its in good condition) and rarely even 100% of the price, because its not easily available in the showrooms.... due to perennial supply issues with RE.

    3. You can convince him saying that its a torquey bike, meant for pulling huge weight easily. Hence, it will be most comfortable uphill & while carrying weight, like luggage, pillions, etc..

    4. Comfortable seat, not too many gear changes required, etc.

All the points are valid mentioned above but do talk about the pride when you own one. I read something which I always say ... I was born in middle class family my bike made me royal .... I am in total love with my bullet and I am sure with above mentioned points you would be able to convince

Tell him that it makes you fell like "King of the road" when you sit on it. Just make drive it once (if he has not drivern before) or hell, make him even sit on it and ask him to feel for himself. The seating position, the stance when looked from the rear, is purely amazing.

PS: I fell in love when I thumb-started and put the first gear and rolled off. The torque was blowing the salaiva out of my mouth

We have been hearing these lame, exaggerated quotes about bullets so please stop quoting them again and again. Guess there is no end to the idiocy of RE owners .

@TS: Just tell them that you have always dreamed of owning an RE and you would like to turn your dream into reality. If they do not agree then just tell them that if not today, you will definitely buy RE when you start earning.

            Hey,
You just tell him that RE is the bike designed for indian roads. The durability of the bike is tremendous... The resale value is high... The bike has a good climbability... RE is a bike for riding safely and not for racing... It can be used for long rides and do mention about the riding comfort... If he is not willing, ask for a harley... He will finally go for RE :

How does it matter to you about my likes or dislikes or quotes...no one comments on your choice...its individual preference ... If you think it lame, exaggerated quotes ... The best solution is to ignore.... It is a biker forum and should respect everyone's choice...if you don't like bullets ... I am not hear convince anyone ... Please respect before calling any RE owners an idiot ... I love this forum because of it unbiased approach about riding ... We all share something in common which is riding and if asked for pro's and con's then share your valuable insight and thoughts.

Maybe you could start earning yourself and buy the bike ... instead of waiting for your parents to sponsor it !!

First of all your earlier comment did not serve the purpose of this thread. Secondly, parents do not know about your so called PRIDE,ROYAL etc etc. Third point is Its not a biker's form. It is RESPONSIBLE and SENSIBLE biker's forum. Problem is that whoever has a bike have come here and opened their account. I hope in future, XBHP also looks out for some criteria before activating the user account of each and everyone like T-BHP Fourth point is I never said that I dislike bullets. What I do not like is the lame quotes which SOME RE owners including you say like I was poor and bullet made me Royal, bullets do not leak oil instead they mark their territories. If you want to make such quotes then xbhp is not for you instead you can do this on RE's facebook page.

So now I see the problem... You have a opinion about parents and some interpretation of language written. I never said poor and asking about lame they xbhp has never put a criteria. So unfortunately you still have no right. If moderator feels it is invalid they have the rights to talk to me but BTW who are you again insult any members? Did you check with them I don't like lame comments before joining. You should opt out and join when they meet you recommendation...or the best solution still remains the same... IGNORE as I am going to for your future uninterpreted comments.... So best of luck... Keep riding hard and safe.

Umm, How would you convince your parents? How about,

                        1. Dad, You know sometimes when I am late and Mom worries a lot about me? Well my bullet's thump will let her know half a km and 10 mins before me reaching!
                        2. Your complaint of me not being responsible enough will go away. My bike will ensure I am responsible and caring by giving me maintenance issues to fix regularly.
                        3. I will learn the value of money better when I will have to eventually fill fuel in my bullet frequently through my wallet. Shut it and forget is not her type sorry!
                        4. I will learn time management and people management when I will have to search and find parts and befriend trustworthy mechanics.
                        5. I will have lesser marriage issues with a high maintenance wife, because my bike would have already made me a pro in it.

P.S No offence meant to Bullet lovers yaar! Pleeeease take it in a humorous way only

Re: How do i convince my parents to buy me a royal enfield

                            Here is what "I" did.

                            Step-by-step breakup:

Step 1 : Let your dad know of "cruisers"
Step 2 : Let him know the ultimate desi cruiser is a bullet (Don't flame please, I know it's NOT).
Step 3 : Then be a depressionist and calculative in front of your parents like Since I cannot buy an RE (or convince you to buy one) I'll settle for a lowly Avenger.
Step 4 : Rant in front of your mother (mother ONLY, this is important) that the RE is a MUCH better machine (which it is, atleast than the Avy. Avy owners, don't flame, please!). The mileage is better, the road presence is better, the riding "satisfaction" is better.
Step 5 : Stare at RE pics, keep a desktop wallpaper of it, gobble up the videos - be sure to do such in presence of your dad and mom.
Step 6 :border between insanity and abnormality (not actually, of course. LOL).

These got me an RE CL. Hope it helps you.

Be a pro, bro. Be a pro. LMAO.

                            Regards,
                            Achyut.

P.S. -> Just on a "tad" serious note, buying a bike with your own money is better. Buying an old school thumper like an RE with one's own money is perhaps the sweetest thing in the world. The thump is "better" when it's burning your own cash. Haggling for investing >1.5 L is not a classy, sober or understanding thing to do.
