  • To RE or not to RE

the Bike but who never actually bought one owing to (usually) advices and guidance from other bike riders!

When it comes to motorcycling, it all boils down to THE IDENTITY of the BikeVibrationsFuel efficiencyAny Big Budget Bike not that kind of bikeYou only Buy a Bullet When You Want a Bullet!

This is a bike where if you pull the accelerator bike will move forward and if you release the throttle the bike will slowdown. This is a bike for those who want to enjoy the simple joys of old era of motorcycling, where the journey and the machine was as much a part of the Trip as was the destination.

Even today, if Yamaha re-starts manufacturing 1986 model RX 100 bike, There Still Will Be people who will Buy the Bike, and There Still Will Be those, who say, it runs like a 1986 bike.

This article is not intended to make a Believer out of an atheist (to start a never ending debate between Royal Enfield Vs Other Bikes). But more to unchain the Believers amongst the hesitant!

If you like This bike and if you can afford it Go for IT! while you persuade yourself with words like yours gives you more mileage, or has better Power to weight ratio, modern technology, etc.

One question though : Is it really Hand made? I did not know this! How much of the bullet I see on the road is hand made? Because if you see the sale numbers of these bikes, it is too high for them to be hand made.

it is handmade for certain, which also explains the long waiting period. But to what extent its hand crafted, that, only someone who has taken a factory tour, can enlighten us about!

Re: To RE or not to RE

I myself was a hesitant earlier as described apty here. When I got my 1st bike I wanted a RE - not because I was an RE fan or something like that, just that I liked the Old-school looks of the Bullet. I'm a old-school type of guy I still use a Fountain pen n all, but I didn't buy one then because neither I had the affordability nor did any of my advisers really cherished my choice. Anyway I ended up with a Honda & was quite happy untill as exactly described here; a bullet would come close by & I'd really keep looking at the nice lines of the bike.

My motivation really turned high when I hired a RE in my honeymoon at Kerala, it was a old one & I really loved the way it just chugged along. My wife loved it even more & in the end after a year or so when I was looking for a New bike where I considered everything from Avenger to waiting for a Benelli to Bonneville (which was waaay out of budget) I ended up with a bike which really appealed to my old-school self the Conti-GT. And when almost everyone on the signal stares at my bike oggling at it with a desire in their eyes, I love the fact that "thank god I'm not on that side" .
