  • Career advise from Xbhp

    Hello Xbhpians,

I want some advise regarding how I should proceed now.I am a fresher Mechanical engineer from an average private college.I choose to study Mechanical engineering hoping that I will be able to join a two wheeler company and work my way up or even start my own workshop one day. After 4 years of study I am not happy about what I learned.I hoped to learn many practical skills which I could use later.Sadly this was not the case.I follow Xbhp intensively to learn what I can about two wheelers.

My parents are advising me to go for MBA or start preparing for Bank exams like all the middle class parents.I don't know how this is going to help me satisfy my passion for two wheelers.

I researched a bit about motorcycle related post graduate courses.Cant find any in India.Well there are some ITI s offering 6 month courses like "two wheeler mechanic course". But these not meant for degree holders. And being an engineer I don't think they will accept me anyway.

And yes,I tried to get into a two wheeler company. But no one wants to hire a fresher.I am confused here. All I know is that I love motorcycles, and working with them makes me happy.People say follow your passion. All I want is a career that involves working with a two wheeler.

I know there are many engineers, experienced guys here.Waiting eagerly for any advise you can give me.

      Hai
I am also a Mechanical Engineer. The way you think is wrong. To know two wheelers you don't have to work in a 2 wheeler company. In fact if you work in one chance are you will learn less than you learn when you are not working in one.
I just want you to think this way. I want to work in a Mechanical engineering based company. Because in mechanical engineering the concept is the same the only thing that changes is the application area. Because I also was of the same thought but joined a automotive precision part manufacturing unit .
P.s don't join a IT firm(no offence guys) after studying Mechanical engineering because many do

      Cheers

        I absolutely love your dedication.
When we are in college what we think never comes into application when you go to a company right away.as a mechanical engineer you really need to first decide what you want to be.then go into that field.yes the way you get knowledge from a core department is by joining a small company.there its your skill to learn lots and lots of things .experience is what I am talking about.once you have that then you can definitely get what you want.

Replying to an Old post here is my two cents..

As a rusted old timer there are somethings I would like to share here. This is not an advise or Mentoring or guidelines but a share from personal experience.

          1. No matter what your heart or Mind or anyone else says, Money had become important. Before you say money isn't everything in Life, make sure you have enough and more of it.

          2. If you want to follow your passion , make sure you have enough skill set to become somebody in it. You must read and listen a lot and speak very little to gather knowledge.

          3. Depending on your preferences, Split your life between What gives you money and what gives you Happiness. Without money you are not going to get your wishes fulfilled and without Happiness your life is wasted.

          4. Concentrate on making your life worthwhile and meaningful by doing what is important to you , and That which will lift you up.

          5. Five People will give you 10 or more opinions and some will even try to decide what you should do...Listen to all , but take your decision . Whether your decision gives you bad or good result, LET THE DECISION BE YOURS. .

          6. Success should be analysed and understood as to what you had done right to get the result .

Failure should be analysed in depth to understand what exactly was not done correctly. Failures are stepping stones which will take you to higher levels of success if you learn from it.

          7. Never be afraid to take or standby your decisions .Good or Bad, a decision made takes you up on the learning curve .,and will serve you well.

          8. Be a listener . Even if someone is telling you about what you already know, listen, because you might learn something new .

          9. Knowledge is gained by Experience, experience by doing right things, and doing right is learned by doing wrong and learning from it...

          Good Luck.

I have been browsing vacancies recently and found out that Android and Java developers earn like 10 times bigger than I earn now. So I found and company and wanna join their dedicated development team to provide App development services. But I guess they do not accept resumes from newbie Juniors. Must get more experience to deserve this job.

A key feature of the Vacplus VA-D1903 Dehumidifier is its built-in fan which draws in air from the room and filters it through a special filter. This helps to remove dust, pollen, and other airborne particles from the air, and helps to reduce the amount of moisture in the air. The fan also helps to circulate the air in the room, which further helps to reduce the humidity. https://everyinchclean.com/best-bathroom-trash-can/
