I own a yamaha r15. I commute 60 kms daily via NH 66, to Trivandrum city. I have been doing this for a couple of years and always have kept my records and papers clean. There's a lot of highway patrol and they usually and my bike attracts a lot of attention from the police, just because it looks like a sports bike. Till this date, nobody ever fined me or anything.
Last week, while I was riding, at almost 55 kmph, through an open stretch of the highway, a policeman pulled me over. He started the conversation very aggressively. He yelled at me for not stopping, to which I replied, 'I actually stopped sir, why are you mad at me?'
Next he verbally abused me a lot and asked for various papers, interestingly he asked me to show pollution paper before he asked for anything else.i had all the papers or at least attested copies of them, so later he blamed me for not carrying original of RC book, to which I replied, its stated in the law that, I have the attested copy so I just have to produce the originals within a week. Again he verbally abused me
I had a friend of mine as pillion with me, mean while he was begging the other policeman, there were three of them, to leave us alone and we didn't commit any thing wrong
Atlast the policeman said I was over speeding, that's why I was pulled over. I asked for proof and he threatened me to take us to the station and charge us with something. Then my friend agreed he would pay the fine and paid 300 rupees for overspeeding
He suggested I should stay calm as it was his last date to pay his exam fees and I have a visa process going on- he said it's wise to avoid a criminal record, as these guys could charge us with God knows what charges
While I was there, they fined two other people with 100 RS fine, for not having helmet and papers
Is it my bad so that I had all the papers?
I didn't want to go to further action because of the Visa process. I'm worried that they could really mess it up
