Re: Accident Insurance
Many options - AIG, Religare, HDFC Ergo.Originally posted by leech View PostLooking to buy accident insurance which would cover hospital expenses. Any information is welcome.
People in IT would primarily relate to this because it is mandatory for them. For example, I have a Religare policy for me and family. My current company takes care of the premium but until last year (before I joined this firm), it cost me a measly 5-7k per annum (payable once, in April) to get a cover of 5 lacs for myself and 3 lacs each for parents.
It covers most diseases except STDs, cosmetic surgeries etc. All accidental damages are covered. And it is cashless.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Accident Insurance
Divya
What you suggest seems to be more of a health insurance policy than an accident insurance.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Also, any idea about the govt. owned companies services. Like Oriental, New Insurance etc.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: Accident Insurance
Yes, it is primarily health insurance. Accidental damages can be bought as an add on cover with the existing insurance.Originally posted by The Monk View PostDivya

Consider it as a zero dep add on over comprehensive insurance.
Sadly I've no experience with govt owned firms since we never get them as options.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Personal Accident Insurance for Motorcyclists
I searched around and couldn't find a thread related to this topic so starting a new one.
As motorcyclists we indulge ourselves in an inherently dangerous sport. Some even participate in competitive motorcycling.
Anyone here can shed some light on appropriate Accident Insurance policies for motorcyclists requirements.

Re: Personal Accident Insurance for Motorcyclists
So i checked out a couple of insurance covers. One from a private player and one from a govt one. Apollo Munich and Oriental Insurance. The benefits on the Apollo seemed more attractive, but as soon i selected my profession the premium shot through the roof! The Oriental insurance didn't care much for my profession, as premium remained constant.
I selected Oriental insurance. One of the prime reasons being that it allowed me to choose 'High Risk' and maximum benefits at a third of the cost of Apollo Munich. But the deciding factor was, Apollo didn't cover accidents in racing, diving, flying and mountain climbing. Oriental covers all of these.
Also, Oriental Insurance was recommended by motorcyclists who participate in track days/ track races and the Raid de Himalaya. So problem solved.
Hope this information will be useful for other bikers who are interested in getting an accident insurance.

Re: Personal Accident Insurance for Motorcyclists
Guys don't confuse with Medical insurance with Personal accident insurance. I'd long time back with StarHealth Insurance Personal accident policy which was quite cheaper. I still consider star health as they have a coverage of hospitals and they don't have any TPA and is dealt directly by them so little hassle free.
PS: I have personal medical insurance policy cover with them for the last 8 years, so my observations is based on thisHodibaba (Caliber 115)
Pulsar 150 (2008-2016)
Chevrolet Beat (2010-)
Desert Storm (2013-2017)
Yamaha Rayz( 2016-)
