I didn't go to click any pictures of the eclipse Tau. Moreover, with the overcast weather, I doubt there would have been any luck!

Well....looks like the early bird does get the worm...
or rather 'luck favors the brave

As suggested by me earlier in the thread, I'd planned to ride over to Sohna today morning to catch the eclipse on camera. What I needed was a real time 'situation report' from that place. Aseem (user ID aseem85) and Anant both live in Sohna and we were in constant touch since last night. 0400 hrs and Aseem called in about clear skies. I decided to chance it. Updated Anurag (on his Intruder), Raja (accompanied by his friend Gaurav and wife in his Endeavour) and a couple of friends (Rishi and Sanjay Sharma) and the ride was on. Met Anurag near the Savitri Crossing while the others were to meet up at the Gurgaon Expressway toll. Aseem and Anant were to meet us at Sohna itself.

We were a trifle behind schedule and upped the pace. A big cumulo-nimbus was teasingly positioned on the horizon, exactly in East, covering the path of the rising Sun. We kept moving anyway and I kept a constant eye out for even a tiny peep of the Sun from behind the cloud. A couple of kms from Sohna, the celestial spectacle emerged. Panic braking, helmets off, cameras out and the shooting was on. Called Aseem and Anant over to where we'd stopped. We got a good 15 minute visual window just when the eclipse was at its maximum. Blessed!!

Sharing with you all some of the pictures I'd taken with my P&S Sony DSC H10. (Program Mode, focus set to Infinity, Centre-weighted metering, ISO 100). Take a look....

            Another one...

Thanks guys. Though the moral of the story is....lets not wish for another visible cosmic act during monsoons. The dilemma is terrible. You so very dearly want rains and yet don't want them.

Praful: yes..these P%S thingy's work just great. Deceptively so eh!

OF: You guys had a good and clear view of the eclipse! Woke up nice and early, but the clouds completely blanked out whatever chances I had of watching the phenomenon. Your excellent pics have somewhat made up for it.

I woke up at 5:10am, saw no message from you - saw clouds, assumed you're not coming!!

You need to change that bloody MTNL number - or buy something more reliable for SMSing. I still get junk SMSes but keep getting no SMS from my MTNL friends
