and it is that time of the year again!

So you've been to Leh, or "got Leh'd" as you fondly call it? Rode your motorcycle on the NH-1A, scraping your footpegs, and proudly posing in front of those beautiful mountains there. But have you ever thought how many soldiers laid their lives some 12 years ago so that today we could walk there freely? Yes, today is Vijay Diwas, 12th anniversary of victory over the Pakistan army who dared to capture our land. They were there right on the NH1A enjoying their summer holidays before Indian soldiers filled so much metal up their asses that it still hurts for them to sit properly... but we forgot it! Even our government who would spend millions of taxpayers' money on giving ads on Madam's or baba's birthday, would conveniently pass it as just another day without remembering or celebrating it because this war was won when their opposition was in power!

So, lest we forget, let us all pay a small tribute to all those brave souls who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow!

          Jai Hind!

I still can't forget the time I walked down Vijay path on NH-1A in the backdrop of the mighty Tololing mountain range.

I was there on the 10th year anniversary of Operation Vijay.

A thousand salutations to the brave soldiers who endure all for us. The images posted by Rachit literally had me in tears.

No words can express what the Armed Forces have done for us. As someone who lives near the Sukhoi Airbase, seeing every fighter plane take off fills my heart with pride.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I was just seeing a report on Vijay Diwas. The political circle is celebrating the appointment of Pranab Mukherjee to the post of President of India but they have conveniently chosen to forget those who has laid their lives & those who are constantly up against the enemy & are actually upholding the dignity of the President of India, the Supreme commander of the Armed Forces.

My humble & deep respect to the fallen angels & a big salute to the true officers of the Armed Forces.

This is the day when brave soldiers of our army brought us back what our enemy had taken away from us. They won the battle of kargil after sacrifising their lives fighting on the formidable heights of Kargil and Drass.
Today when we go touring in leh circuit, we proudly pose in front of those big mountains, conveniently forgetting how many young guys lost their lives there to make sure we get to walk there freely without any fear.

So, let us celebrate and use this opportunity to salute and pay homage to those brave souls who sacrifised their today for our tomorrow because each and everyone of us owe our freedom to the Indian Armed Forces today.

P.s.: shame on our politicians who are still engaged in inter-party politics even today rather than showing signs of solidarity. How conveniently our ruling party has chosen to down play the importance of this day just because this battle was won when the other party was in power. Shame.
This thread needs to be revived today!
