  • Lest We Forget!

Tomorrow, 26 July, 2009, is going to be the day when we'll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Vijay Diwas. This is the day when brave soldiers of our army brought us back what our enemy had taken away from us. They won the battle of kargil after sacrifising their lives fighting on the formidable heights of Kargil and Drass.
Today when we go touring in leh circuit, we proudly pose in front of those big mountains, conveniently forgetting how many young guys lost their lives there to make sure we get to walk there freely without any fear.

So, let us celebrate and use this opportunity to salute and pay homage to those brave souls who sacrifised their today for our tomorrow because each and everyone of us owe our freedom to the Indian Armed Forces today.

P.s.: shame on our politicians who are still engaged in inter-party politics even today rather than showing signs of solidarity. How conveniently our ruling party has chosen to down play the importance of this day just because this battle was won when the other party was in power. Shame.

Indeed this is a noble thought, not many of us remember or recognize the sacrifices and the pains taken by our soldiers to bring us into the freedom and comfort zone we are in today.

I was thinking about the same from morning, after I saw the news channels flashing the News of the 10th ann. of Kargil War .My father is in force,So I can feel the adrenaline rush which flushes through your veins when listen the national anthem and patriotic song! and whenever you see the National Flag Hoisted High!
I always wanted to go to Army and I would surely join the Army if I get a chance.Although I have given the NDA exams and waiting for the results!
I study in army school so I live in a 'Army' environment! and my classmates whose parents are in army ,tell me the incidents which happened with their parents during their service to the nation,I also have a Friend whose Father Laid his last breath In Kargil .

Although people hesitate to get Into forces as people think it is very risky and offers less money,But now the scenario has changed and have seen many Youth coming into army, which is a good news for our countrymen. In Armed forces money doesnt matters, Only Respect matters.

        And I salute those Martyrs

A heartfelt salute to our Kargil Heroes!!!

Was saddened, nay disgusted, to see last week's 'Brunch' carry naked legs on its cover, 'Indian Cinema finally coming of age as actors and actresses go nude' (sic) while just the last two pages carried a write-up on the Kargil conflict with nary a mention of the same anywhere on the cover. These celluloid heroes are supposed to be more inspiring than the real life ones. Pity!

There were amends this weekend though and I was glad for it. Today's HT carries a centre-page photo-feature about some 8 of the notables.

These are the stories that need to be highlighted more and more, this being all the more important in these times of omni-prevalent cynicism and win-loose competition even amongst the closest friends and family. We desperately need to regain our lost pride, both for our country and our fellow countrymen.

Once again, a respectful bow to these epitomes of courage and values.

When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today --

Salute to these bravehearts! On other note what better way can it be than to celebrate the victory in kargil with the news of the launch of our very own nuke sub! Wish we had nuke powered bikes, that would convert our masses into energy for a while, helpful for time travels.

I remember that dialog from the movie Lakshya which roughly translated to - "We are awake here so that the billion people of India can sleep safely."

I don't think there is anything more respectful than being a martyr, dying for the country, giving up our own life to save the life of the people who trust us. It needs real valor and bravery to know that our lives are not our own anymore. It is for the country.

I salute to the bravery, patriotism and the courage of every soldiers out there protecting us, our country and our respect. I too wanted to be a part of them but was not capable enough to clear the tests. Well, no regrets. What we can do is turn off our TVs, shut down our monitors and imagine what kind of life our soldiers have to live. Then only we can understand what a luxurious life we are living and pay real homage to our heroes. If someday my country needs me I'll be ready for that.

                            Jai Hind !!!
                            Enna Rascalla. Mind it !!!
