Great start Abhi . I second your idea of starting a Technical / DIY section.

I don't agree with this because in DIY section 1 may have partial answer or some new doubts for which he needs a reconfirmation/suggestion and somethings even the mods may not know (no offense).

So what i would suggest is, once the thread has some final suggestion/solution anyone can PM mods to take a look and then mods can conclude the thread with 1 final post and lock it.

I support the sub forum suggestion for tech threads. And few ppl can only post in it. Otherwise it will be filled by replies from laymen like me! If we want some information, we can put up the question in Help me section, and then the proper technical answers can be posted in that tech section.

Here's my two cents.

Compiled Threads

There are many threads related to one thing but scatterd in diffrent sections.
For eg. There are many diffrent threads related to R15 or P220 including modifications,alterations,issues,ownerships etc. It would be easier for any xbhpian or visitor to extract valuable information from these threads if compiled at one place.
So here goes my advice..

There should be a
Compiled Threads Section
In the section..
There should be a
SUB-SECTION
related to particular thing and in the sub section there should be all the threads(links) related to the particular thing.
When any one would click on the respective thread heading, he would be directed to the original thread in the original section.

For eg. R15 related stuffs

Main section-
Compiled Threads

Sub-Section
R15

Threads

*Ownership Thread-R15
*My R15 Garage
*Issues In R15
*Modifications In R15
*My Suoped up R15
*Headlight mod in R15

Now if anyone will click on any of the following threads he will be linked to the original thread in original section.

Every day mods get no. Of what bike queries related to bikes such as P220 or R15 or Apache 180 or Fz just increasing the crowd in what bike section but isnt genuine.

The compiled threads can be a great solution to this one too..

Main section
compiled threads

Subsection
Chose Bike

Sub2-Section
Chose R15

Now in this section include all the links of what bike section in which the questioner had finally selected the R15 over any bike.

This will help xbhp in many ways-

Reduce no. Of non-genuine queries.
Suppose R15/p220
Mods will just read the query and post the links to the chose R15 and Chosen P220 subsections and lock the thread.
If still in dilemma let the guy repost the same query in last mentioning (still confused after moderation.)

Reduce useless re- and re- debeat on the same bikes in diffrent what bike queries.

Same can be done for touring too

This Leh subsection will hold all the thread links to the tourer who had done Leh..

So finally
Compiling all the valuable info at one place, makes things easy to serch, easy to find, easy to go through!!!

Some one had suggested here that there should be vote per post thats a wonderful suggestion but I have some mod in mind.!

There are three or four small square box given at the rightmost corner of each post.
One for quick reply
2nd for multi quote
3rd for reply with quote
4th for god knows what!!

Remove if theres any useless box out there and add two more boxes

One named as Vote and another one as Tag Links

In the last of every page in any thread there should be two Show All Tagged Links and Show Voted posts options

The show Tagged links will show every post in the particular thread with the links and the SHOW VOTED POSTS will show every voted post in the Thread.

Someone had suggested xbhp helpline.
Insted of this, in the
Compiled Threads section add a
Contacts subsection.

This subsection will hold all the cities name in alphabetical order..
When one would click on the particular city..a new thread will open up containing the address and phone no. Of the xbhpian in that city.
Dont make it compulsory, insted make it random, so only those who really want to help will post their adress and phone no. By their will.

Now any one going on tour, make a map route of cities u'll pass, go to contacts thread and save the no. Of the helping(all those who had added their contact in the thread will help you whole heartedly) xbhpians of the citys, in case u need any help.

Making all G2Gs Sticky in the G2G thread itself is not a good idea.

Remove the f***ing (Posted via Mobile) automated signature for the xbhp mobile edition and let the original signature be posted through mobile.

Help Section would still exist. This section would be a read only encyclopedia...
So, if a common query comes up, give the link to this new section's relevant area.

But of course, I agree that approval system can be used and then, all members should be posting in it ...

err...so did anythng happen? Im relatively new to xbhp. I startd posting only about 4-5 months back. And there hasn't been any change afaik. Except for, ofcourse, the italian roadtrip and xbhp videos section.

Btw, is there a lighter version of xbhp available which is compatible for mobile phone access?

there is a DIY section now. and there is no lighter version of xbhp. simply switch off images in your mobile browser and that should help speed things up.

yes there is a lighter version . whenever i log in from mobile device it auto enables that type of feature .

we can also have a TROUBLESHOOTING section or thread...

How about starting a xbhp wiki where only approved members are allowed to edit, that way we can have the greatest encyclopedia regarding bikes.
