^ The food is quite good at Maiyyas, it used to be at BTM before it got shifted to 4th Block..book a table, shop around for half an hour cauz its always crowded...

I like the off- beat places so here goes:

      1) Siddalingeshwara Tiffen Center - Kunigal - Great breakfast...

      2) Donne Biryani - Banashankari - Finger lickin stuff

      3) Ramanna Military Hotel - Jayanagar 7th Block - best mutton Khema (really better than the lamb at Leela...)

      4) Hotel Taj International - ramanagar - Great Biryani again

      5) Mysore Mylari - (Not the one on the highway) - Masala Dosa

      6) Hanumanthu Biryani - Mysore -

      7) Planters court - Coorg - Khema Dosa and Mutton Cutlet

      Disclaimer -
      1) Most of these places are for guys who like "lowcall" stuff and enjoy spicy food (except the veg joints i mean).
      2) Please explain to to your girlfriend / wife the ambience is...well.. dosen't exist. but they do have a certain old world charm (for guys like me) and the food rocks...

Will post again on the "decent" joints in B-lore...

Siddalingeshwara Tiffin Center, hmm... which is the best breakfast item there? Bengaluru boyz can probably have a breakfast ride. Kunigal isn't too far

Any good vegetarian place for lunch in Electronics City? Preferably around Phase 2.

EDIT: Mysore Mylari? Oh man, I can't stop laughing. LoL! the owner has some knack for catchy names huh?

Sure man, will do. I am staring at the prospect of going to office everyday from next week and I dread it, coz no proper place for lunch. Its middle of nowhere

There are few 'Andhra Mess' I heard, but no good for working lunch my friends say. Too heavy.

Sure. Will plan with other members too

Finally, had lunch at Maiyyas this afternoon. South Indian section was too crowded. Supposedly, reservations begin only from 12:00PM. I think by the time they serve it will be like tithi oota (Funeral Meal). So went to Gujrati (?) section on 5th floor.

Me and my friend ordered a 'Set Menu' costing Rs.275/head. It is basically Maiyyas lingo for unlimited thali.

                +ves
                • Service. No half funny business of serving only starters, etc. No standing in queue with joota plate in hand. You get up after you are done with the lunch.
                • Effort to avoid wasting food is very apparent. They don't fill the dishes with food rightaway. Waiters are happy to serve you multiple helpings. I appreciate this. No point in bringing kadai full of vegetables and wasting half of it.
                • Good use of sunlight Unlike modern philosophy of blocking sunlight and then using some dim lights to save energy to make the restuarant look like 70s movie villian ka den, this one is bright.
                • No music Reasonably quite surrondings.

                -ves:-
                • No designated parking even for two-wheelers Why should the surrounding public pay the price for Maiyyas business? It's just like one of those convent schools around Residency road, etc
                • Dishes in the main course were on sweeter side. People who like lot of mirchi may not be happy about it.

Considering that there are very few Veg only options and decent ambience, it is alright I feel.
