JFYI, in the last two years, I have been shooting mostly between 35mm and 50mm or once it a while at 120mm!! I wish some manufacturer launches a camera like the Fuji X100 for $200. I dont mind a 1/1.8" sensor if not the APS-C sensor. I further dont mind, if its a manual focus camera(the maker can save some money here to achieve the $200 mark!!)

SX20IS and SX120IS appear same at the first instant of mentioning!! It happened with me too, when a friend of mine said SX20IS, I mistook it for SX120IS!!Originally posted by anirban13 View Post
With the prices of 1000D and SX20IS being in the same bracket, one is tempted to buy the DSLR but it is not suitable to all. So, think before you buy!!!Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View Post

These have been discontinued for a while now. I'm quite amused that they took so long to remove these models from their website.

get the canon powershot sx130is or panasonic lumix tz8. Both are in the 10-12k range and are neck and neck on image quality as well as other features. Both feature a manual mode too (apart from the usual dozen modes) which are good enough for your LKG an UKG when you move to DSLRs.Originally posted by muRali.dexTeR View PostPlease suggest me a digicam between 10k to 20k. I dont want to buy entry level SLR. Like to learn the intricacies of photography first and then i will switch over to a SLR.
going by the reviews online, these are excellent VFM cams.
you could also check the sx210is at 20k but it doesn't offer much improvement over the sx130is at almost double the cost

bro my budget is a bit tight this 2 months,so pls suggest within this range 10000.Suggest some good quality cam.Originally posted by eliksir View Postdon't buy a cam looking at the MP count. It only determines the image size, not the quality.
If you can extend your budget a little, check the previous post

Just want to share my views:
I have a Canon Powershot SX210IS. It's a learner's camera. Its very easy to use with maximum applications given.
It has got 14MP with 14x wide zoom(this is awesome) with 56x zooming at extreme as shown on the display screen.
I have got this for almost 18,500/-. Its a good buy and i may suggest it for beginners.
I have been using it for macro photography of scale model bikes.
I have attached an picture from camera.
Thanks.

The best thing to do IMHO would be wait. If you had 1.4L Rs would you wait to get a CBR250R or settle with a ZMR ?Originally posted by cscsarkar331 View Postbro my budget is a bit tight this 2 months,so pls suggest within this range 10000.Suggest some good quality cam.
I'm saying this because these two cams are way better than all other ones that are cheaper than them. I waited some 2-2.5 months for my SX130IS and it didn't disappoint. It cost 14k back in october. Last thing i heard was it cost only 12k in february. Do check the prices in your city. It might have come down to 10k.
The only other cam I can suggest is the SX120IS. Its no longer in production though. You might be able to get it at some store if they have stock. It has its own share of problems though.
The SX130 is a new model that replaces the SX-120. It overcomes many of the problems that the SX-120 experienced. The SX130 has 12X optical zoom (28mm to 336mm as opposed to the 10X optical zoom: 36mm to 300mm zoom that was on the SX-120, giving the SX-130 a wide angle position as well as a longer zoom. The SX-130 has a more powerful built-in flash unit than the SX120. The SX-130 is 12mp, while the SX-120 was 10mp. HD video is now on the SX130, while it was missing from the SX-120. The SX-130 can zoom while filming HD video, the SX-120 did not zoom. The SX-130 now has the ability to re-focus after zooming in an HD video, a feature that was missing entirely from the SX-120. So, as you can clearly see the SX-130 is a major improvement over the now replaced SX-120.

If you are looking at just clicking pics, you can look for Nikon L21. Its MRP itself is 4,990/- including Freebees: 4GB SD Card + Pouch + Rechargeable battery charger(this camera uses AA batteries) as per Nikon India website(street price might be less!!). A friend of mine bought this camera on my suggestion and he is extremely happy!!Originally posted by cscsarkar331 View Postfriends I want to buy a digicam of 14 megapixel, can you suggest any model within Rs.10000.I have seen a kodak 14 mp for 5600rs.Pls suggest.
BTW, you will also get a cannon with same price with similar features. In the entry level think only about canon or nikon!!Cheap and Reliable is not Fast, Cheap and Fast is not Reliable, Fast and Reliable is not Cheap!

Get a canon ixus 130is... i don't know why you want a 14mpix,because in point and shoot, with tiny sensors, lesser the maga pixel, better the photo clarity, hence you can go for a canon ixus 120is a well. Both of them come under 10k and are good cameras.Originally posted by cscsarkar331 View Postfriends I want to buy a digicam of 14 megapixel, can you suggest any model within Rs.10000.I have seen a kodak 14 mp for 5600rs.Pls suggest.RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!
