  • @anvancy,
well, water cooling would be an overkill for me.
About Bajaj Cooler, yeah i was planning for it, but for that, i've to keep the rest on top of the cooler. And that would be a scene to watch!! hehe..Anyways, thnx for suggestion.

    @saif,
Xigmatek..? dont know whether it is available in delhi or not? Can u shed more light on specs, price and performance? Thnx..

    @shadez,
    thnx..
well, right now, i've 17" from LG. Plus, i am addicted to 1280x1024 (aka square resolutions) similar resolutions for working and playing games. So, i was planning for square inch TFTs. As for budget, well...i can shell out 10K.

had been to Ankit at SP market and had a good discussion with him. got the quote for below config:

Monitor - Samsung 22" (this has 15000:1 ration compared to benQ T2000HD which has 10000:1, DVI support etc etc... but comes for rs10,800)
Cabinet - CoolerMaster Elite 334 (changed from 330)
      Processor - Intel Q8200
      Motherboard - Gigabyte GP45
      RAM - Kingston 2x2GB DDR2
HDD - WD 640 (seagate .12 HDD's are not available and there is loads of problems with previous ones. so decided on WD. samsung didnt check)
PSU - Corsair VX650 (jumped from 450 to 650. advisable?)
GPU - Sapphire HD4850 (heard sapphire to be more reliable than palit)
UPS - Yet to decide (maybe APC for 2.5k. any suggestions? anything to look out for when buying one?)

      total cost: ~50k

      now... problems:
      1. the P45 mobos have bad IGP or no IGP rather. so i definitely have to get the GPU.
      2. GPU costs are fluctuating big time and they are gonna come down cheaper soon. so will go for GPU only after a month or so.
      3. AMD offers better graphics when compared to Intel. Instead of Q8200+GP45 combo, if i opt for 'PII X4 920 + Biostar TA790 GX A2+' (16k), i would have much better speed and graphics speed.
so i guess AMD way to go.

now, if i flip to AMD, with 'PII X4 920 + Biostar TA790 GX A2+' mobo proccy combo, would the other parts blend in well?

suggestions / comments / criticism needed please !!!
well ask him the exact MODEL NO of that GIGABYTE GA-P45.there are many.what these people do is give some mobo that they have purchased in bulk and sell off.what ur job is to check whether the mobo he is giving has any probs posted by reviewers or not.

as of today a dedicated GPU is always 1000 times better than integrated.and if u buy a 22inch and then play in 800*600 or 1024 res,it simply has no point.

for normal resolutions upto 1600 the 4850 will work fine.people say above that 4870 does the job.

regarding prices,on 6th april ATI will be launching 4890 and 4770 which will then again lower prices of 4870,4850 and the newly 4670 to a new low level, where NVIDIA will have to think fast and real.

what NVIDIA did right now is launch 250 which is nothing but a 9800GTX.so rebranding.

for the price to performance ratio,ATI is beating NVIDIA big time.also now many NVIDIAns are facing driver issues.owners here(as in we)will never say.but if u check forums things are on other side.ATI too is facing some issues but those are of game profiles.NVIDIA had serious driver issues.

      my 2 p.

      anvancy.
      there are no stupid questions.

          • thanks there anvancy.

well am jumping to AMD. couldnt resist.

heres the config (awaiting final comments):
            Monitor - Samsung / BenQ 22" fullHD
Proccy - AMD Phenom II 940
            Mobo - Biostar TA790GX 128M
            Memory - 2x2 Kingston DDR2
HDD - WD Caviar Blue 7200RPM,16/8/2MB Cache
            PSU - Corsair TX650W / HX620W
            Cabinet - Coolermaster Elite 334 / Coolermaster CM 690
            UPS - APC

Will go for GPU later when prices come down and post budget. maybe 4870 or 2x9600GT SLI setup. not sure.

now the final confusion is with PSU and cabinet.

            1. which is better in PSU?
TX650W: Welcome to Corsair :: TX Power Supply Product Information
HX620W: Welcome to Corsair :: HX Power Supply Product Information (better?)

            2. suggest me a good (and good looking/funky ) cabinet to hold current config.

                  1. Im using TX650W and completely satisfied with it. I previously wanted HX620 as its modular PSU but was not available. So you go with HX620W.

                  2. Check the Thermaltake and NZXT cabintes.

I am having a Dell Latitude Laptop.I have been using it for last 3 years. It has(d) a 3 year complete cover warranty where DELL will change the parts free of cost and that even covers accidental damage.

Service is great from DELL as they never hesitate to provide parts without any question. The only headache is the frequent/premature failure of parts which is just unpardonable for a company of DELL repute.I have changed parts close to a lakh of rupees in these 3 years and this is not it , even my friends having XPS/Inspiron are facing the same.

If you have any other brand's svc in your city go for it.I wouldn't say DELL is bad but it's good only if you have that golden "complete maintenance cover"
