--- man these jets ROCK and they come with full TOT(transfer of technology) unlike the F18 which is also in the race for the 10 billion dollar contract

Even sometimes i feel that way.Originally posted by entsurgeon View Postwe ppl are so lost in self-hyping that appreciating any other nation in front of us is akin to being insulted.
Years back when i was in Class-12th I had this discussion with my classmates regarding US as a superpower. Most of my friends argued US ke pass kuch nahi hai(US doesn't possess anything), they only have money but Indians have the brains. I was like "Yea right"!!

Really proud to be an Indian.. And reading those stuff makes me feel Goose Bumps. There are so many things we can be proud of yes.
But on the other side there are so many things that make us ashamed of ourselves. We talk about democracy/not conquering any country for so and so years.. but see the reality today.. The thackrey's who slams other state people from entering mumbai.. Fight between states for reasons like water/power/land/etc.. The most shameful thing, in some international blog I have myself seen north indians and south indians fighting bashing each other. Aren't we all brothers! Seeing such thing really hurts.. When I tried to post in there I just became a target for them thats all.
Not everyoone is like that. But like I said, when we could see openly people doing that like in Mumbai. What can someone do about it?!!
The registrar offices.. where corruption is at high in the country.. But what can someone do.. complain about it to higher level?? Does it work? the answer is plain NO. You refuese to Bribe then you suffer to a great extent and you even tend to loose.
Simple things like AutoRickshaws in Chennai.. The most frustrating thing in the city.. they do not use meters. they charge their own amount. They dont respect anyone including the passengers.. they use slang if you argue. So what you do? compaint about it?! Those things are owned by the cops/traffic polices itself. No actions taken. You write letter to whomever you want, they dont even bother about it. So what do I do? Never use Autorickshaws.. if i dont have a bike.. go in train/bus or by calltaxi (which is expensive but doesnt matter to me until they are honest).
I wish I get to a position some day in life where I can do something about such things. Until that time, just search for reasons which makes us proud and act like the issues arent visible.MJ

Wow! What a topic... There was a nice quote I think from George Bernad Shaw which said something about "driving a car while watching its rear veiw mirror" assuming that the past would ensure a good future... thats probably what we are doing now!
Its not what we are matters, or not what we are matters... its what we could, and should make it from hereon that matter
PS: I guess today is the Kargil Memorial day?
