And could you post pics of the charging kit too. How have you connected it?

Thanks, sure I will upload the remaining pics.
Could you please share a few pics of you setup?

Re: Crappy camera and phone mount

Yeah, I've attached two pics of the holder. I'm having trouble uploading from my phone. In addition to the holder, I've also fixed a cigarette lighter socket on my bike. So I can plug in any charger that had a cigarette lighter plug to it.

Most important thing, set the cam in "auto-focus" mode and record.

I think instead of attaching the bolt directly to the camera tripod socket, you can attach it some sort of a bracket which holds the camera in it using some sponge or other soft material. That might help with the vibrations.
I haven't tried it yet, its just a suggestion.

This is a good idea. By extension, it can be used to mount a gps navigation system as well (like, a smartphone probably?), best suited for long rides to the unknown!

I think people with iPhone don't need this thing. :P
Download the All New Google Map
Plug in your earphones > Open Google Maps > Search for your direction > Tap on Start.

And enjoy a very very approximate talking guide
I found this thing very useful in Mumbai.
No matter even if you change the way that was calculated in iPhone, it will tell you the alternate route automatically.

Here are some pictures for reference.

I used an unused tripod head for directional flexibility for the camera.

DIY : Bike Tripod Mound for Camera Cost Less Than Rs 20/-

I just Tried for a Tripod Mount For My Pocket Cam Kodak Zx3 For My Hunk

                      Need Some Components

3\4 Inch Clamp ( You Can bought it from Local Stores Plumping Items ) - price - 7 Rs

                      Bolt With 3 Nuts ( bought from Hardware Store ) - Price - 6 Rs ( 2 bolts (long & Short ) with 3 nuts )

                      Need one Spanner 10-11

Remove the old Bold From the Clamp

Enlarge the Ends ( you can Easily do it with Your Hands )

Use Three Nuts First to Tighten the Clamp with Handle Bar second and third it to choose tripod position Works Same as Mirror adjustment seen on Bikes )

Tighten the Camera with Nut and Adjust the Third Nut to lock How Much Turn for Camera and tighten the second nut.

Insert it to your Bike Handle Bar ( I Choose Left Side Handle Bcoz of the Visor Height )

You can Fix it to the Center of the Handle Bar for Perfect Vertical Mound

Painted with Spray Paint to match with Black color ( Worst Quality Paint from Local Store Cost 100 Rs )

I use a Double Sided Tape (Bought from sun-cool Sticker Store ) on handle bar to prevent scratches on My Handle Bcoz of the Clamp

I replaced the Old Bolt With a Shorter one

                        Bike Camera mount for DigiCams

moderators, Not sure which thread to post this onto but i though motorcycle accessories will be apt. Please move it if unsuitable. (thanks)
After seeing so many nice videos on YouTube of people on rides, I always wanted to make videos of my own.
Doing some research i found out that almost all of the videos were taking using GoPro cameras costing about 20,000Rs minimum. I couldnt afford to spend so much on a new camera as i already had a digicam. Nothing fancy, Just the regular point and shoot types starting from about 4,000Rs.
I though why not make something so that i can use the same camera to mount on my bike and get some footage.
After some experimentation, I came up with this design.
Works well and provides descent footage. Vibrations only on rough roads or speed bumps.
The mount bolts onto the fuel tank using existing bolts. The camera then sits on the mount using the standard tripod mounting bolt. You can see the attached images and also a clip from a video i took on a recent ride.

I have designed similar mounts for few other bikes and am also willing to sell them.
                        Custom requirements are also welcome.
For more details you can contact me through email or simply comment on this post.

                        Regards,

                        Vikram

Re: Bike Camera mount for DigiCams

Video recording solution for those who do not want to modify/add/attach anything on their motorcycles.
Its a harness/chest mount for mobile cameras for those who cannot afford Go Pro.
