@ My1000cc - Well done !
Heavier gear oils like EP90 (smelly

) is better ( longer lasting) for oiling chain rather than 2T , although the 2T would work ok for sometime . The 90wt gear oil is the recommended chain lube in my splendor/CBZ owners manuals .
Additionally , before refitting ,I thickly cover the inside of the chain covers with black chassis grease . This traps dust/dirt and prevents it falling onto the chain & thus keeps it clean longer. It also stops the chain cover rusting from inside .
@Dhiraj - WD-40 is not more effective in cleaning than kerosene since it is 50% to 80% kerosene itself , with added light propellants & light lubricatiing oils . After the kerosene and propellant evaporates , it will leave a film of that lube . Not needed here . Plain clean kerosene works just as well or better just because you can dip the brush wet in it rather than spraying the aerosol .

Since Kerosene is not available easily, how about using Diesel? I use Diesel & found it effective.

Don't use that on an O-ring sealed chain though.

Diesel is indeed effective and I use the same even on an O-Ring chain. Kerosene is not available to everyone legally. Diesel however can be bought at any fuel station.

Oil used should be gear oil ie: SAE90. 2T oil gets splattered around whereas SAE90 sticks to the chain.

SAE90 is a.k.a Gear Oil

First of all Thank You for making such user friendly guide
I cleaned my Uni's chain according to your guide and poured Gear oil 90 after cleaning
it's been 300 Kms since i cleaned chain now chain started making noise should i put some grease also or putting just Gear oil will do?

If you think your chain is dirty and too lazy to clean it thoroughly mix a little diesel with 90 gear oil(1:3) and apply to the chain. Good results but the floor gets dirty for 1 or 2 days.

Today cleaned my chain with Diesel + Kerosene mix for the 4th time.
Unlocked the chain and cleaned it in a bucket with the Die+Ker mix and sprayed water. Too good results after spraying with water.

Hi,
Do not apply the lube directly first clean the chain. Since if you apply the lube then the dust & dirt will be trapped inside making it worst.
Also I use Grunge Brush to clean the chain & sproket as shown here, not sure if it is available in India.

Thank you all, for the support. I am damn happy that my DIY is useful to xbhpians.

I too had a similar noise issue after around 5-6days of usage after cleaning, just apply a little bit more grease (both on inner & outer side of the chain) that should solve the noise issue within 10 - 20kms of riding.

Put grease on 5 - 6 inches of the chain, then leave the next 5-6inches empty, then again repeat greasing. This will evenly spread to the whole chain, when in motion.
