I am looking for a robust voltage regulator idea to drop the 14.1v to 3.6v without much power drop. LM317, 7805 IC's can be used but there is too much power wastage which negates the idea of power saving with LED's.

what are the ways to regulate the voltage in an efficient way? Switching regulators????? Janesh???????

Why voltage conversions? Just serialing them would save resources

        Hi Sandeep,

You can use a regulator LM1117-3.3 if u need a 3.3 volt regulation. It has a current capacity of upto 800mA.
As for your requirement, i am sorry i have not researched much as the voltage specifications are very specific.
Yes you can try switching regulators, but they are costly and circuit is complex.

Janesh bhai, what's the forward voltage for white LED???
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

hi guys, i read ur post about LED indicators as well as googled about the same, i have built the circuit with IC 555 but without relay.

I thought LED will blink if connectred to the output of Pin No 3. But i am getting a constant voltage of 1.7V all the time, wat may be wrong ??
            components i m using :
            50K ohm resistors
            5 Kohm resistors
10 micro farad 60 Volt capacitor
            can this be the cause??

but i am not using 0.01 mic farad capacitor between Pin 5,is that necessary??

AFAIK O/P from 555 wont be sufficint to glow all LEDS brighter enough thats why using a RELAY .

            please suggest regarding this.

Here is the circuit that got it going. After so many days of R&D got it to work. I am posting the circuit diagram here. Most of it is self explanatory.
This circuit even worked on stock bulbs, led & bulbs combination.

              Hi Janesh,

              how are you? hopeso fine....

Messaging after a long time on same topic...

Got my circuit working after a long time as my 12 volt adapter was on fault...

The ground connection you had mentioned in the drawing, is it the bike's frame or something else?

              Bye..
