Won't it drain the battery too fast? You may wanna adjust the position of the spots as the light is causing glare, at least it appears so in the picture. Also how bright are LED fog lamps? I heard they produce around 200 lumen and only used for DRL or show-off function. BTW the picture showing comparison between LED and normal H3 is by Nd2Roam from ADVrider.


@Rakesh Rok not possible without rewinding the stator since this setup will consume 55+55=110 watt which is way higher than stock 35 watt.

The position of Spot lamps are changed according to your need, At one time you can even blind the Truck drivers and can even lit the front tyres only :P

Well a single lamp can work on Unicorn because one Autopal lamp alone is much better than stock headlamp of unicorn. However 2 will be overkill for the electricals of Unicorn.

Are the H3 LED bulbs available?
How is the light output compared to the normal filament H3?
Coz I do have a similar setup on C350 , those normal H3 consume lots of power and put a load on the battery.

Hi everyone.
Few days back i installed led lights in my RX135 headlight. The lights came with driver of rating 8v to 18v. Wattage was 18w/24w. I directly installed it on the stock wiring i.e. not on battery. It works fine as the bike has a RR which converts the ac supply of alternator to dc which fluctuates with rpm. It flickers at idle but while riding gives constant output. Tried as i didn't want to spend on new battery. The logic was we get a dc supply through the RR and at idle the voltage is around 12v and on full Throttle it hardly exceeds 14v. So any led with drivers which include operating voltage of 12 to 14v will work directly. The only problem is get a led which combined with your headlight reflector gives good illumination. I used 3 sided Leds. The output is just better than stock. Focus issues basically. Will try on a clear lens round headlight to see if there is any increase.

I need your help. I am planning to install a Fog lamp to my Thunderbird on crash guard as you did for your C350.

Did you find any battery problem after fitting this to your C350?

I am looking to buy the below one but the thing bothers me is power output. Its rated as 55W and If I put 55*55=110w dont it drain the battery power?

Personally, I would advise against using such powerful lights.
Bikes are normally not designed to provide as much electrical power as cars.
This is why you see so many LED fog lamps on the market now days. LEDs consume much lower voltage.

I would recommend that you stick to LED fog lamps, and to keep it under 100W total lighting.

As a general trend, you can use a similar setup in almost any vehicle. Most vehicles have some headroom between the power consumed by the vehicles electricals and the power generated by the ac generator. this surplus is used to charge the battery, and any extra over that is generally dissipated as heat through a load resistor.

However, I would recommend that as a general trend, do not add more than 40-60W over the existing electricals, be it mobile chargers, aux lights, etc. and even if you do, try not to use all of it at once.

for example, on my impulse, i have LED aux lights that total to 36W. but i do not use these all the time at night. only when i need to. this has 2 advantages
1) less power consumption
2) i let my eyes stay adapted to the low light conditions. I only turn on the aux lights when I need to see more/better. eg. just after getting blinded by oncoming headlights or after entering an unlit stretch of road after riding on a road with street lights

I would say same applies to you. Adding 1 lamp would be OK, but adding both, I would say no.
This is one reason why LEDs are so popular for motorcycle lighting. They put out similar or more light with less heat and less power consumption.

Also, as a side note, I would recommend mounting lights higher up, like on handlebars. When mounting them on a lower part like engine guard/crashbars, the light hits the ground at a very shallow angle. this causes the light to spread out over a huge area, but the intensity at any given point is less due to this.
This is one reason why roof mounted aux lights are more common than bumper mounted lights in offroading. mounting them higher and pointing them down gives a smaller, but sharper and brighter beam.
