Re: DIY LED Tail Lamp Conversion

I have a better idea. Why can't we use LED strips instead of Led bulbs?

Hope I am not bumping into your tread. Since its the same topic I don't want to open another forum for the same. Hope the author of this forum don't mind.

Instead of led bulbs if we use LED strips it will be very easy. Since everyone does not have a soldering iron and electronic parts knowledge. led strips are just plus and play for 12v setup. So does not require any kind of diodes or resistors. Only thing you have to care is cut the strip at the dedicated/marked places only. Cut the strip according to the size of you pcb board and fix it on the board with quick fix. Fix as many required parallel and connect the wires of the strip parallel by looking at the polarity. And you are done. Same is working on my Rx 135 since from years.

Can you show me some pics of ur tail light. I havebeem searching for led conversion for my bajaj avenger for quite sometime. Comparing to led bulbs,is strip leds are bright enough ? Also can i differentiate the arrangement pattern for running and braking light ?

Putting the pic below. If you zoom in you can see the led strips. Middle 4 vertical strips are for rear back light. Rest 4 strips on left and Right and top and bottom are for break light. Strip led are smd leds which are way much brighter than conventional led.

Please note that I did this 4 years back.its not waterproof. So put a full cover with cello tape on top of strip. Now you get strips very cheap and water proof too.

Sorry I am not able to upload any pic. Will try later.

          Next version.

Pirahna/Superflux LED. Used in display boards and traffic signal. Great output. Overall package is even compact and neat. Output is great.

Though a bit overexposed, it is really bright.
