This is my first post on xbhp.com, so please be kind on me.
So I have a 2014 Gixxer 155. This is my first bike and I'm fairly satisfied with it till now. However, one thing that has troubled me is the riding position. My back or legs or arms or neck, something would just start paining just after riding it for an hour at max. Sometimes more body parts would pain together. Which always left me unsatisfied after the rides. So I decided to make certain changes in the bike to make it my dream bike:
1. I modded my seat. Went to the local seat modder. I asked him to broaden the rider seat, level it and raise it by 1.5 inches.
2. I raised the handlebars. Initially I tried searching for risers, but after 2 days of intense searching, I gave up. Then I realized they were available on ebay for 2-3k. But I found them too expensive. Then I came across a website, where the guy got it made from a lathe shop. So I decided I would get them custom made.
I went to a metal seller shop. Got him to measure him my bikes handle bar mould and immediately got two aluminium blocks of 2 inch height. I paid him 140 rs.
Then immediately I went to lathe shop, and told him to make holes. He brought his measuring tool, and measured the drill holes and distances. He also measured the extra part to be cut from the edges. Though it wasn't perfect. It did look neat. He took 2 hours to do it. I gave him 500 rs for labour. After getting the holes and finishing done, I went to auto spare parts shop and asked for longer bolts. He said he has longer but the head is 13mm wide instead of original 10mm wide head. I said ok and bought 4 of them for 120 rs. Then I went to my trusted mechanic nearby to install it. He removed unbolted and bolted the risers with longer screws in 15 minutes. The only problem was the battery cables, which was sorted by cutting one of the plastic binders below the speedometer. Voila! There I was with better handle position within 3-4 hours of running around. Have a look at it. It does look sexy IMO!
But still I have to say, I'm not feeling the best comfort even after these mods. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do to make it more long ride friendly.
