Thanks to this post I tried similar thing on my TNT 25 and this is out it came out. Posting the photos
if its helpful to others.
Used 2 of FLASH FRONT MTB MUDGUARD - BLACK from Decathlon as the long one for the back were not available
at the store.
First would thank brokenbinil for this post on XBHP on the DIY which helped me to do this.
I will keep it simple. Velcro
Tolls used were:
1. Velcro strips
2. Hot Glue + Gun
3. Some screws
4. One metal string piece
5. Drill
6. Allen Keys which are available in the TNT 25 tool kit.
For the Front:
A. Removing these screws were tricky and could not do it with regular spanner as it required T spanner which I did not have, so dropped the idea of removing that-leaste entire mudguard.
B. Removed the screws (B) using the Allen/Hex keys
B1. The tricky part again, The flap is secured with a sort of Brass supporter which is hard to remove after removing the screw @ B#
- Used a pointy tool pull it out hard, Cracked the plastic holding the screw :-(, Then slowly pulled the brass supporter out on both sides.
- Fixed the crack with fevi quick.
Now the Black part of the Front mudguard comes out easily. Careful when removing some nuts or washers may fall off from inside.
C. Used the Velcro Strip and Hot Glue Gun to stick the Velcro Strip on both the Inside of the mudguard and on the extra flap, Sorry could not capture
pictures when doing the job. Depending on your preference of the flap length you can get that pasted. I used Velcro so that I could remove the flap
when not required and keep the looks of the front as is.
D. Used a small wire out of a small key chain and secured the flap to mudguard screw (B), Just in case Velcro comes off and I do not lose the flap.
That's it for the Front Fixed back the black portion of the Mudguard in reverse of how it was removed.
For the Back: Again, I would have liked the long extension, but had to do with what was available at Decathlon.
E. Remove the Screws marked E and open the supporting tag for the Brake like for the screw to be visible.
- Remove the 2 (E) screws on the other side also.
- This will get the entire back plastic mudguard out and it become easy to work on it.
- Could not use Velcro as the shape of the back mudguard was creating an uneven gap, So decided to use screws. If you get strong Velcro, they could be used instead Screws.
- Cut the extension lap to the desired state, Drilled couple of small holes on both the mudguard and flap and fixed with screws (G) in place as shown.
F. Made sure to cover the exposed screws with hot glue to protect from water and rust.
- Fixed back the mudguard
There have been no rains in the last 2 weeks here in Bangalore to test my DIY, may be soon will know if the DIY works, but from the looks of it at-least the
front is taking some muck which would have other wise deposited on the engine block which is painful to clean. Lets see how the back holds up and if it protects
the back mono shock from all the mud it usually attracts during rains.
