  • Aftermarket Gauge/Dash for motorcycles

    I have a CBR250 and a Ninja 650.

Is there any way I can install an LCD/TFT screen dash/guage (whatever you want to call it) into both these motorbikes?

    - Any imports from Aliexpress or Revzilla that work with these. under $200-300 preferably

    - Can I jerry rig (read: somehow install) the nice TFT dash from a D390?

    Thanks for any help

You can't install the 390 TFT as it has a lot of sensors and would not be compatible with your bike or if you somehow connect it it would not show or most of its features won't work [emoji16]

Try to scour the internet for information on the cbr250rr. Try to technical schematics for the Speedo and find out how many extra features it has over your CBR. Then if it's mostly compatible I suppose you could jugaad the display onto your bike. You can order the same from Thailand or Indonesia and I'm sure you'll find it for cheap.

As for AliExpress or revzilla, they make specialized kits for bikes but not for the likes of cbr250r since there it's considered more of a cheap beginner bike and there's no demand for high end mods for it.

Alternatively, you can try to buy an r15 v3 dash and try to jury rig the same onto your bike. I suppose if you have electrical and circuitry knowledge with a little effort and some calculated soldering you can accomplish what you intend.

As for the ninja, I'm not sure what the Speedo is lacking but there are kits of universal type on AliExpress but I wouldn't recommend it and there's kits from a few American manufacturers but they're quite expensive. My suggestion would be to leave it alone and probably just buy whatever the display is lacking like a gear shift indicator and you can also try changing the display colour. Anything else will just be an unnecessary waste of money.

This is crazy but it might be crazy enough to work.
If you can give an exact description of whatever you need on your dash to an engineering student, he/she might just be able to create a new dash with a TFT/LCD on a Raspberry Pi. Kind of makes your bike an IoT thing too.

Adding a link I found on YouTube

(This looks pretty much like the 390's dash though)
