- Navigation: With Google Maps accuracy to tell direction, we really don't need to look on the phone to watch for direction. Also, with mic enabled, if you think direction is missing for long time, you simply command "What Next" and Google Map will tell you what to do.
- Call: Bluetooth receivers generally comes with mic enabled to take call. I didn't need call so I didn't put the receiver near chin, but you can figure out where to setup.
- Music: Long stretch of highways can boring. Little tune help us to keep the mood
I have a Bluetooth receiver which I bought to convert my regular costly headphone into Bluetooth to connect my TV / Phone. I tried the following setup for navigation and Music for my recent Srisailam Trip. Using around 5 hours over GPS and an hour of music. Battery was still over 80%.
Requirement:
- Helmet with good padding, preferably space behind the ear
- Headphone: Like Nokia free headset which comes with phone. It is bit flat and bigger speaker
- Bluetooth receiver with battery and mic: I used this Bluetooth receiver . I have used it for few months and it worked really well. No heating issue. I suggest to get similar receiver which is small and fit somewhere in your helmet.
Placement of headphone and Wires:
Put both the headphone speakers in single side only. It will give you sufficient output to hear even on high speed.
Setup will not cause you any discomfort. Don't worry about headphone direction, you can hear everything.
Placement of Receiver for quick access to on-off and remove for charging:
After placing the padding lock, it will not fall out.
If you want calling, you can put receiver near on fiber near chin using Command Hanging Strip, instead of double side tape, it is removable whenever required.
If you feel Google voice is not loud enough, go to navigation setting enable this
Drawback: So far Google navigation voice only works when data and network is working. But there are apps which support offline voice navigation.
Also, instead of this Bluetooth receiver, you can get Bluetooth headphone like Apple ear buds and tape inside helmet ear cup. It should also work. But, those Nokia headphone speakers are really loud, you can trust on it.
