    Re: Fuel-Tank Rust Removal

i had use this method to remove rust from tank, it works well but the problem is after cleaning the tank it starts to react with oxygen in air and water so fast than eminem rapping that it gets cover with layer of rust in minutes.....u have to quick and have to pour lots of wd 40 in it to coat inner surface temporarily... rr 10 kit is no where available here in mumbai. so i poured 2t oil and shake it to cover tank with layer of oil and then soaked out extra oil from tank by sponge stil tank is not rust proof... only solid solution for rusted tank is zinc metalizing which costs 500 and 800 in mumbai, for 800 u gets good quality material .. but it will not last more than two years

For Rust Removal I use POR15 - Use Tank Strip for best results.

I also perform electrolysis as displayed in the First Post in this thread if required.

POR-15 Motorcycle Fuel Tank Strip & Repair Kit

      Fuel System Restoration

This by far one of the best products I have used till date to rescue tanks for rare vehicles. (cars and bikes alike)

            Re: Fuel-Tank Rust Removal

Well explained. I am doing this in my pulsar 150 fuel tank today and it is still in progress. I got some problem here, When i removed the tank and cleaned with water, jst before the eclectrolysis , i found there is a hole underneath my tank 😢. Well its jst small hole and water was leaking thru it. i then sealed it with insulation tape as a temporary fix and went with eclectrolysis process. Planning to fix it by tomorrow. Another problem is, i put 20 dry wall screws inside the tank (about half inch length) for the sake of shaking the loose dirt out and managed to take out only 16 screws out of 20. The petcock was removed and scew was coming out thru it. It was really a mess to take out the screws and it was not coming out easily. I was dancing with the tank and was struggling to take it out. Wasted a lot of energy jst to take out the screws out and i was really tired at the time. still there are some screws left in my tank and i went with the eclectrolysis. Planning to take out the remaining screws aftr electrolysis done. But my advice for you guys dont ever put srews or nuts n bolts , you will struggle taking it out . I really dnt know how the hell i am going to take it out. Also my tank has rust which is not much so how many hours is recommented to run the electrolysis. Anything wrong will happen if i over run the process?. The anti rust solution mentioned in the thread is nowhere available. Atleast i found another solution to coat the innards by mixing petrol and 2t oil by 32:1 ratio. Dont know wether it work or not. As i started mine from 4.50 pm today. Awaiting a quick response

well i did this on my 2007 model pulsar 150 but the problem is i can't get the anti rust coating solution anywhere. inquired in every showroom, they don't even know what it is lol . I then mix petrol with some 2t oil and poured inside the tank, at least for a temporary solution, rinsed it out then filled with pure petrol from the pump.
