Good one! It reminds me of the old days when i stuck 6 small cellphone speaker magnets on the case of my Nokia 5800 with the help of feviquick .. it worked perfectly fine and could stick it wherever i wanted.. like tank or the handlebar(with flat center rod) on my Yamaha rxz.. paired with my Motorokr bluetooth headset fixed safely inside my helmet..
Though i did not have the charging option on it.. Thanx..You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

Dear Nahush, appreciate your concern but I would have liked it more if you would have done some R& D before posting your query with all these dots in between.Originally posted by Nahush View PostWOW...nice idea about the car lighter plug as charger....but connecting it to the battery...?
Wont it drain the cahrge ....? Wont this hav any adverse affect on battery life or charging capacity...?
These days a bike fitted with a self starter comes with atleast a 5amp battery. Most of the devices that work on the power source from a car are not more than 1amp in rating ( I am not mentioning the Electric Air Pump, The vacuum Cleaners types)
Further more, I believe that the charging system in most of the bikes is potent enough to keep the battery charged to its requirement, given for the fact that the electrolyte level is as prescribed.
Hence forth, the battery charge and Battery life should be the last thing to worry about when using electronic gadgets like this.
Try this yourself and mark my words, you would not look back.
all cheers

To have a trouble free charging solution
Hey! That's a great DIY!
Just for the Charging part, I have procured a different solution (best part of which is - it is independant from the bike electricals altogether!)
Product:
(It is a white colored Adapter with Blue casing like thing - here)
Croma | Tech Talkers
Croma- 4 Way charger (White product with green packaging) (with 6 months Croma store warranty)
Charges using:
1. 2 pin AC supply OR
2. Ciggie lighter from Car (or could be from an attachment to the battery from Motorcycle- if you wish) OR
3. 2 AA size batteries! OR
4. 1 9 V Battery!
Output is via USB port (so- we can carry a USB - mobile-end-charging/data cable to charge our mobiles/BT headset/anything that charges with USB power!!)
The product costs 700 INR.
Seems like good deal to me.
Thanks,
Ace.I wish, I would be paid by the word! :p

I have mounted by Videocon mobile which has the lifetime free GPS (Mapmyindia) on my Yamaha Fazer 153 cc.
This displays me my GPS location on a real time basis and it works without a sim card.
Mobile Device - Videocon V6200 (powered by Ducati which has preloaded map of India for free)
Handle bar mount - Amzer (ordered through Flipkart.com for Rs 1760 which is ver sturdy)"Live life behind BARS"

Re: DIY GPS - Using Car GPS PND on Motorbike.
Guys I need help choosing some handle bar mount for my bike (I have a N650 so space on the handle bar might be an issue but am not sure). I have a Lenovo P780, which is similar to a Galaxy S2 in dimensions. Help me choose between the two:
