Apologies if this is the wrong section to post in. Kindly move/delete the thread is so.
To the point - Is it possible to make all content that is posted on xBhp available to registered members only, and not visible to search engines like Google? Or maybe have a xBhp only/public option on threads?
In detail -
We already know that:
- putting up anything online means it will remain in cyberspace forever, even if you delete it later.
- pictures should preferably be uploaded with watermark.
- one may choose not to upload or crop 'face' pictures, blur motorcycle registration no etc.
Also:
- pictures can still be downloaded by non-members for personal use. Even software to remove watermarks undoubtably exists and pictures can be used for non-personal use.
My concern rises from my own ownership thread. I share my experiences not only because of the happiness ownership brings me, but because I am sharing with like-minded, bike-loving/owning, serious people who have taken the effort to join up and are also regular on xBhp. I don't see the sense in hiding my face or my bike registration number, why would we have G2G and rides then? But I don't like that so many of my bike images and personal story shows up on Google.
Facebook, not at all a perfect-privacy site, but does have the option to keep one's profile/photos not viewable in search engines. Something like this would be preferred. We can consider keeping the Universal threads like Helmets, Riding gear etc or the General and Help topics public by default. That will allow non-members to glimpse what this site and the brotherhood offers while keeping people's ownership threads, touring stories, pictures, articles etc available only to xBhp members.
All members, do post your ideas on this.
