  • Which Big KTM for India?

Mr. Bajaj has stated that the "Baby" Duke would make it to India. But what about the bigger Street (obviously not the off roaders) KTM's? Which big KTM would xBhp'ians like to see on our Indian streets?

Which of the following does make most sense for India considering the already present competition (Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Ducati, BMW, Harley Davidson) models..

[1] 690 Duke: [Single Cylinder, 654 cc, 64 bhp, 148.5 Kg Dry Weight]

    [2] 990 Super Duke [V-Twin, 999 cc, 118 bhp, 186 Kg Dry Weight]

    [3] 1190 RC8 R [V-Twin, 1195 cc, 173 bhp, 186 Kg Dry Weight]

    [4] 990 Adventure [V-Twin, 999 cc, 105 bhp, 209 Kg Dry Weight]

    [5] 990 SMT [V-Twin, 999 cc, 114 bhp, 198 Kg Dry Weight]

    34
    1. 690 Duke
    14.71%
    5
    2. 990 Super Duke
    20.59%
    7
    3. 1190 RC8 R
    41.18%
    14
    4. 990 Adventure
    5.88%
    2
    5. 990 SMT
    2.94%
    1
    6. Baby Duke is good enough, bigger KTM's not required
    14.71%
    5

    The poll is expired.

      Really tough choices.

The tourers on XBHP would want the 690 Duke,Adventure and SMT. And XBHP being a touring inclined forum, these will win.

Supersport fans like me would want a RC8R.

And the regular city public will like the Super Duke.

But it would be really great if this poll is respected by Bajaj. Not like the earlier Kawasaki poll.

+1 minus the tourers would like the 690 bit. I would LOVE to see the 690 come for a kawasaki like price! and I can say its everythign except a tourer friendly bike!

My vote to the bigger duke!
        - Does help/justice to the 200 (amongst the KTM-unaware public)
        - An awesome naked bike
        - RC8 has an upgrade overdue
        - SMT and Adventure class market is not available here (though I will be honest one of my bike fetish is to own the adventure!)

The 690 and 990 are definitely NOT touring bikes and are actually quite a handful if you've got a regular riding style. Switch into Motard flat-track style and you'll do just fine...I hated the 690's handling because I just can't do Motard!!

Superduke 990 is what people need. People abroad swear by what a marvellous stunt and city bike it is. And those killer-naked looks shed an attitude!

Duke 690 is more expensive than N650R and its looks are not to the taste of people. My prediction is that it will sell but very less for its segment.

As for the RC8R, its a racing machine and it won't exactly give competition to Ducati 1198, despite being in same league, cost factor being a reason.
We already have a lot of racing bikes, including inline fours which are lighter than this.

Cost might be the only area where RC8R might make a mark, but again, so can ZX 10R given Kawasaki's CKD Pricing.

Voted for the 990DUKE.Frankly speaking i don't fell that any of them really suits India.Because very very less amount of ppl will actually use a Adventure bike in India.Liter Street bikes not make much sense since for our cities a 250 is more than enough!...a liter tourer would be perfect.

And RC8...my all time favorite...but i wonder why ppl voted for this?just to see them in India ?
AFAIK RC8 is the most track oriented bike around now...its supposed to be VERY uncomfortable for the roads, and that is when compared to the usual Liter super sports.

actually a better idea is to bring both 990 and RC8..

rc8 r.i won't buy it due to its less practicality but would follow the bike owner around in the city and andmire its beauty.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Well, the KTM (Yes! The 350) which is going to be launched next year in India is not listed here.(I know there aren't any images of it but still can we have it)
