  • Carbon deposit on Enticer Plugs

    Hi,
I have 2002 year model Yamaha Enticer which have clocked 65000+ kms till date.
    The problem with my bike is that;
    1. Bike gives jerk when riding above 50 kmpl, means its not going smoothly after that speed.
    2. It some times give miss-fire when I stop accelerating.
    3. Black smoke is depositing on the spark plug very frequently and also black smoke is coming out from exhaust when revving hard.
    4. Average is down to only 30+ kmpl.
    5. Top speed is down from 95+ to 80+.

Recently around 3000 kms back I got the decarbonizing done with the bike to correct all this but with no real gain.
One road side mechanic told me to change the piston as they have worn out by checking the smoke.
But I dont think that they have worn out as the sign from spark plug and exhaust does not suggest so and the engine oil level is also not decreasing.
So can anyone please suggest me what the symptoms suggest and what are the solution to correct all.

An also can anyone please suggest me a good Yamaha mechanic in Gurgaon/Delhi who can perform the needed task. (Authorized service centers are no good)

    Thanks

I can only think of the valves and valve related issues.

Does this happen when you close the throttle or even you have the throttle opened? Also at what position of throttle does this happen? 1/8th, 1/4th or half+ opened?

Mis-fire means, are you experiencing something like lack of air/fuel or bogging down when you open up the throttle? Also confirm the throttle position from the previous answer of mine.

Symptoms of your vehicle running a rich mixture

Is it less than what you were getting before? If so, symptoms of running rich?

      Same as above

A worn out rings will give a white smoke indicating that the fuel mixture has not burnt properly.

Q: Does this happen when you close the throttle or even you have the throttle opened? Also at what position of throttle does this happen? 1/8th, 1/4th or half+ opened?

A:This happens when throttle is open around 1/4th open and I start to increase the speed.

Q:Mis-fire means, are you experiencing something like lack of air/fuel or bogging down when you open up the throttle? Also confirm the throttle position from the previous answer of mine.

A:Mis-fire only when I stop giving throttle.

Q:Is it less than what you were getting before? If so, symptoms of running rich?

        A:Yes. Previously it was 45+.

I was considering to get the valve timing checked, change of air filter, complete service of carburetor and also to get it checked whether proper electric current is going to the spark plug or not. Will this help or there is other things also which should be done? But for all of this I have to find a professional mechanic for Yamaha, which is very difficult here as Authorized Service centers are not good.

1/4th means, issue with pilot jet. If its stock, clean the pilot & main jets & service the carbs. Also check the needle for any scratch marks & replace if necessary.

Again, what position? Completely closed? Also do you mean the vehicle jerk or just a bogging sound as if the fuel or air is not mixed?

Looks like the vehicle is running rich, otherwise you would've seen white marks on the plugs

          This is good enough

Do it by yourself or take professional help from a mech for tuning the carbs.

A: When it is completely closed. For mis-fire there is a sound from silencer and by jerk I meant was that bike hesitate while acceleration. It does not go smoothly upward in speed. It looks like that fuel is not getting to chamber.

Do it by yourself or take professional help from a mech for tuning the carbs.
No way I am going to tune carb for myself as I don't have that expertise. I am looking for a competent mech for it. For it I am asking fellow xbhpians to help me.

Not necessary that every bog leads to lean air/fuel mixture. It can also happen if the mixture is rich.
Anyway, check & let me know what's the position of the needle in the carb.

Sound from silencer is not misfire, it could happen due to water or moisture content in carbs too. Otherwise, the carbon deposits on the exhaust could also catch up fire & give a spark.

May be some xBhpian from your locality can help or take it to Y.A.S.S & sit with them patiently. Alternatively, you can catch hold of someone working inside Y.A.S.S & take your vehicle to him privately, when he's off from work.
