i cannot help but feel exactly the same as you. Feels real awkward without a lid! Best is to have a 'flip-up' lid, so for short stints you don't need to remove the helmet everytime you stop to buy something at a shop.

i dont say that helmets are bad every one should wear them....i always wear a helmet too...but do think of another thing that the helmet's dont avoid accidents or even reduce the chances of one...it just may help save your life if you ever do get into one..you dont waht to be like "oh ive got a helmet..now i am safe i can ride however i want"...its 99% the riders choice weather to live till 100!! or die like a dog!!...the helmet may just aid the latter...

      ride safe
dude, I can understand what you're saying.. but since I've been firsthand audience to TWO falls from my bike (both cases I was pillion, the guy who taught me how to ride a bike was in the front.. and this was after I'd learnt to drive well) I really dont have the "i have a helmet i'll do what i want" Attitude!!! ... Both cases the helmets saved our lives man.. one was at 50+ kmph on passion+ where an unlce on a scooter to the left of us wanted to go to a right lane, and cut across us when we were overtaking, without giving even an indication.. and trying to avoid him we fell down ..
Needless to say, this great uncle didnt have a helmet!
The other accident isnt that juicy to put into a story.. but we fell, n helmets saved us again..

And once when I was driving on the entry road to Necklace road (Hyderabad guys may knw what I'm talkng about) after taking the right turn from minister road, a dry branch about a third of a metre length fell (It was DAMN windy that day) from one of the trees planted along the divider right onto my head and it just bounced off my helmet... Since the road is good n no traffic i was going 50+.. i almost fell off because of the shock but not coz of any injury..!! DAmn I shudder to think what wud have happend if I had no helmet..

JUST GOES TO SHOW.. to those ppl who think they are in total control and hence have no need of helmets.. U CANNOT PREDICT EVERYTHING!!! HAVE SOME GOOD SENSE AND BUY A FRIGGIN HELMET!!!!!!!!!

        new lid

        hey gang.
i was saving for a new helmet. budget is about 6000 bucks. wanted to kno whether i should go in for an 'daijya' or a 'sparx'. i wanted it to be value for money and should have exiting designs. some people told me that daijya is made in taiwan and isnt worth it.
also....is sparx available in DSG??....would any of the two brands be available in banglore?
please do reply as i wanted to get home and act as "poserX" with my new lid

You'll be disappointed. There are many flashy helmets on Hyderabad streets.

dude,if this is funny then letme try to make things funnier.I've a helmet gifted by a mag and i've already ordered a pair of alpinestar gloves. Now planning to save each and every penny of my pocket-money for riding shoes,knee-slider and riding pants......and guess what i still don't own a bike !!!!...i know you must be laughing your asses off....but look how responsible i am??..helmet is there for about a year, gloves being added just now....and bike coming soon in a few months, may be by july or august after i get over with my summer break...
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Timely helmet replacement purchase saved me

On May 16th I replaced an old helmet of mine which had cost me some 300 bucks. I always had the nagging doubt that the heavy old thing might crack open even in a minor fall.
I bought this gorgeous shining black Vega helmet with a tinted visor which cost 4 times as much as the older one. Dad was unhappy at his materialistic son who splurged on another helmet when he had one already!
And on May 22nd, the Vega helmet, made of light fibre, expanded around my face instead of breaking or cracking as i hit the side of a van at 40-50 Kmph face-first! It saved my life surely and only the visor was broken (as well as my spectacles).
As i went to replace the visor later on, the dealer remarked that these fiber-bodied helmets are a boon to bikers...from his experience alone many users had survived head on collisions. Hmm...
