  • The Fi Technology!

I have a big deal of doubt on fi technology. I know it is the best technology available in the Indian market but am still confused . I do hear quite a number of guys telling that carburetters give more mileage than the Fi I personally don't think so but still am not good technically. The P220 dtsfi made a great mark !! but the new P220 which is not fi costs really less what is the big deal with thee FI tech? Is Fi good in mileage, performance and power than the carburetter? I'd like to know a detailed comparison about the two technologies. please do help me.

Most of my answers are generalized & not specific to P220.

Hope you're aware of the basics of FI & Carbs; so Fi does the same stuff as carbs just that the control is not mechanical like carb & controlled by a computer program through various inputs & feedbacks.

So a Fi has a ECM, that reads inputs from exhaust (for closed loop) & intake manifold & the amount of fuel inflow & determines the right AF mixture to be fed through the injectors to the cylinder.

While if you compare this with a regular carb, it works completely mechanical to send the AF mixture from the float to cylinder via jets. It has 2 jets, main & pilot & 3 type of position for handling idle, idle-mid & wide open.
